HELP - Immigration & Visa confusion!!

Can anyone please help me with the question below?

I have tried asking the Immigration Department, but they do not seem to understand what it is I am asking!

I am a married female working in Qatar for nearly 3 years now. I was bought over here on an overseas contract and I am sponsored by my employer. I have a residence permit/work visa supplied by my employer.

My husband is also sponsored by his own employer and is on an annually renewable contract.

When my contract runs out in a few months time, I will be forced to return (repatriated)to the UK. As far as I am aware, I am not allowed to return to Doha on a WORK permit for 2 years.

1st QUESTION. When I return to the UK, can my husband apply to sponsor me on a FAMILY visa, so that I can come back to Doha to live with him?

2nd QUESTION. If I can come back to Doha on a family visa, am I allowed to work on a LOCAL contract?

Thank you all for your advice, although I must admit I am still a bit confused :)

My employer wont let me transfer sponsorship to anyone, and the law states I have to be repatriated back to my own country at the end of my work contract.

I guess all I can do it try when I get back to the UK :(

i don't know tallg.. i just know that the rules regarding Brits are not too clear yet...and it's very possible that each case will be considered individually.. i mean there are no common rule apply to the same cases.. that's why it's the best way for her first to try to apply for transfer while she is in Qatar, even before her Contract is over. If it didn't work, she will have to leave qatar and her husband will have to apply to sponsor her. I guess there are no any other ways, eh?

That's interesting qs. How come she has to leave, and can't just apply for transfer?

AWKHAN - British people who've worked in Qatar previously have to get NOC from their previous empoyer before they're allowed to re-enter the country (on any type of visa), so what you say about coming back on her husband's sponsorship any time isn't true. It all depends on the NOC.

AWKHAN, don't be so sure...

..actually now i got another point of view. It says, that you will have to leave qatar anyway, and after that your husband can try to apply to sponsor you. But.. they say, the process is unclear, as rules for Brits are unclear also...

if you are british and your husband is here you can come to Qatar any time you want.Qatar Embassy in London(1 south audly street, mayfair)will please to give you 5 year multiple visa with very small fee.but you can not work(?)

you can come back on your husband's sposorship any time you want and you can work while you stay with permission of immigration dept with yearly 500 qrs fee and it is legale.

As already stated, best solution is to try and transfer to his sponsorship while you're still here. Otherwise, ensure you get a NOC from you employer to enable you to return to Qatar once you've left.

try to apply for transfer under your husband's sponsorship a bit before your contract is over, or right after.

it is sure possible to transfer your sponsorship under your husbands name for some nationalities.. the only problem is that you are Brit, and since new rules have been recently implemented, I think even authorities by themselves are not quite sure what exactly to do in this or that particular case. And really, don't ask them in advance, they won't tell you, due to the above mentioned reason.. Just try to apply and see the responce..

As far as I am aware you CANNOT come back, even on a visit visa (friend from UK stopped at Dubai and not allowed to travel to Doha) unless you have a NO Objection letter from your sponsor.

Your husband will be able to bring you back on a family visa, but the best would be to transfer to him now, if your sponsor agrees!

Yes, you can work work on a local contract provided you will be under husband sponsorship, you just have to secure an NOC from your husband.

maximum of six month stay. But the problem is your British and I am not particularly sure if there is a special rule of NOC regarding British national.

For your second question, you can work as long as nobody in the immigration knows.
