HELP finding stables for my horse please?

Hi Guys.

I am buying a horse this week as a birthday and anniversary present for my wife. I have located someone at the racing and equestrian club who can find me good horses within my budget.

However i am facing a bit of difficulty in finding stables where i can keep my horse, where they will be fed, cleaned, taken care of at a reasonable rate.

We live in West Bay and work near the airport so ideally i need a place in Doha thats close to our home or work so that we can ride 3-4 times a week that is will not cost me more than QR 1,000 per month.

Does anyone have any suggestions or can any one help in any way? It would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Omar.

Thanks for the feedback and the replies everyone. I visited Al Shaqab and they dont accept foreigners putting their horses in their stables.

After putting a lot of thought in it, i dont think it makes sense to buy a horse in Doha at this stage.

The only viable option is to keep the horse near Al Shahaniya in the Samariyah stables. Apart from that you cant really place your horse in the equestrian clubs as a member there if you are an expat or foreigner.

In reply to Lincoln Pirate (above), i will look to do that in the future but as of now i dont have the experience, space nor ability to take care of the horse myself.

Classic case of putting the cart before the horse.

If you can't take care of your horse yourself don't buy one. Otherwise you will need a "maid" for it. It's not a car, nor is it a toy!

of course, Al Shaqab stables is the best place, but do you have any local Qatari friends? these Qataris sometimes have horses in their desert side farms and holiday houses, you can talk to them. But I bet most of those will be in the Al-Khor areas.

can you tell me how much did the horse cost you ?

BTW, i think QREC (equestrian club) and al shaqab stables can help you.
