Guzergah-e-Khayal presents young Ghalib portrait
At the behest of Faisal Hanif, Founder and President of Guzergah-e-Khayal Forum, Shujaat Ali, a world renewed artist painted a magical portrait of young Ghalib.
This was presented and exhibited at ‘Ghalib Evening’ organized by Guzergah-e-Khayal Forum on 10th Sept 2015 at Letoile Hotel, Doha, Qatar.
Mirza Ghalib has never been painted young—all portraits of Ghalib, that are available today, online and offline, are of his old age.
The most popular (in pink farghul) was painted in 1920s in Berlin by a German artist who was engaged by the former president of India Dr. Zaikr Hussain when latter was a student in Germany.
Shujaat Ali’s painting of young Ghalib that Guzergah-e-Khayal launched and presented, is painted following the description of Ghalib from Altaf Hussain Hali’s books ‘Yaadgar-e-Ghalib’ and from Ghalib’s letters where he described himself.
This copyrighted innovative portrait of Ghalib is first of its kind, and is an official painting used on the banner by Guzergah-e-Khayal--a forum which is devoted to enhance understanding of Ghalib’s work.
Shujaat Ali, a member of Guzergah-e-Khayal, is a political cartoonist at Al Jazeera.
He is ranked second in the world among 2D-political animators after Mark Fiore of the United States.
