Great players do not always make good manager

Argentina, under Maradona lost the tactical battle in their vital World Cup qualifier against Brazil. Now they may not qualify..

Another case of great players not making good managers or are Argentina just bad..

QatariLady, I slightly differ from your point because of the fact that players are also squarely responsible for the loss. I agree that he was into drugs, however, it deosn't mean that all his team players are drug addicts. The players need to come upto the expectation of the game plan depicted by the coach to convert opportunities thereby winning the match. He may not have many experienced players in Argentine side or utlised them as required to clinch the victory. On the flip side of the coin, Brazilians exhibited better team work and commitment which enhanced them to convert opportunities in the first place.

Although Argentina have 1 or 2 outstandind players and probably the best in the world, its all about team work which brazil has it with those bunch of players which everyone critises at first when Donga took over.As a team brazil has always been phenomenal in history

Harsh but true, Lion King.

He had a 'natural talent' but was given a position that required knowledge and expertise.

Another example

how many players under Alex "God" Ferguson have gone into management and want to get one over on the old master

QatariLady ....well said....

The guy was a disaster....and he almost gave up on life....

When they signed him up as a coach did they expect him to show up first and stick to schedule?...just wondering?

...and yes....the whole team must be checked for drugs.....lol

José Mourinho was not a good player but is a great coach!

regardless of the legendary player he was, he was a social failure. he sucks as a coach. don't know much about football, but argentina (with messy!) is more than ever listed to win the world cup! now it might not qualify?

hard times? what hard times? maradona brought them!

Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of people know that.

He failed in managing his own life! His team players have to be tested for drugs now.

Maradona is a legend.... But he is struggling as a coach and he admits that it will be tough time ahead for the Argentinians....
