Riyadh: The number of expatriates working in the six Gulf Cooperation Council states exceeds 14.5 million.
....Directors of Al Hanoo Holding Company said that the importance of the foreign workforce depends on the nature of the work they are doing.

While highlighting the significance of the foreign workers' stay for construction projects underway in various phases of implementation in almost all the GCC states, he said that the idea of dispensing with this workforce is purely wrong.

Such a stupid article.. yes there is huge sum of money which is being sent out of the country. So??... Do they have a choice?? who will work?>

Rather they should wisely give citizenship to professionals who can serve the country lifelong and the savings remains.

It is so expensive here it is unbelievable. Everyone goes on about how pricey europe is but not compared to here. I come from the UK and the comments made to me are - aren't you glad that you are living somewhere less expensive and they are always shocked when I say it is much more expensive here for practially everything - I think they think of the UK in terms of london, which is expensive, but the vast majority of people don't live in London.

Property, groceries, clothes, eating out etc all more expensive - the only one less expensive thing is fuel - but that is a drop in the ocean compared to what you spend on everything else.

So yes, I have tried to save money here - but not very successfully - due to the high cost of almost every goods and service!!!

If not to spend money home, what are they here for? Jus coz they have a liking to being kicked outta malls on Fridays?

"Some of them are of the view that there should be a cut in the number of foreign workers while others say that there should be a decrease in the salaries and allowances of the workers."

WTF!! You decrease their salaries any further and it would almost be like they are working for free. You wanna save money, you cut back on all those stupidly expensive stuff that goes around (like the atlantis fireworks, for instance) instead of talking about further squeezing the poor guy out in the sun.
