G8 Carbon Emmissions
The G8 meeting has agreed that green house gases need to be cut.
Stopping gas flaring would solve a big part of the problem, the worst offenders are Russia and Africa with huge amounts of gases being flared and the heat is visible from space with thermal imaging. This wasting of resources is shocking and damaging. When you see that other countries like Norway and Statoil are able to operate with minimal flaring and achieve maximum financial return...

Im not a tree hugging environmentalist and think that the differences us consumers can make is minimal and the real change has to be with industry to reduce global warming.
What do people think about America not signing the G8 agreement?
e46M3, I hear Bush has a bad tummy today - hope he gets better soon. I think the american people are getting very environmentally aware - they are the biggest buyer of hybrid vehicles so guess they must have a concern. If enough people show commitment then the leaders at G8 will have to take initiative - sure Bush will want the green voters as they seem to be growing in number.

I think the US has finally moved forward on this issue. While not going as far as as signing on to a binding deal ( no one did), the US position is now committed to a climate change deal, something it had long resisted.
