Funny - My Tourist Visa Denied by MOI

I'm an American working for the military, and was going to catch a military flight from Afghanistan to Al Udeid, then catch a taxi from the front gate to Doha Airport. I went online and filled out the e-visa form and sent it in, the next day I saw it was declined! I called my old boss in Doha and asked him about it, he checked and said the best he could figure out is that I had worked in Doha within the last two years!

I worked in Doha for three years, then the contract ended and everybody left, the company doesn't even run that location anymore. I paid all my bills and left on good terms, so it's all I can think would be the issue.

I heard that if you leave Qatar after working there, you can't return for two years. Is this true even in cases of a 30-day tourist visa? I was just going to transfer from Al Udeid to the Airport, maybe go by City Center and buy a few things, but....

Since they declined my application, I'll just fly to Kuwait and spend my money with another airline. Anyone else think this is a little ridiculous?

This is your own decision to spend your money with another airline, and be sure that our great country QATAR will not be affected by that money of you.

Best wishes for KUWAIT with your millions of Dollars that will be spent by your goodself

So that might be the main reason.

If you are military personel and coming for military purposes you should have applied for a matching visa, if you are not coming for any military purposes you shouldn't have used military transportation etc.

So basically if you are a tourist you should fly to Doha, nowhere else i guess.

He is flying into the Army base and not a civilian airport. He wants to leave the base and visit Doha..

If I understood correctly..

"vselldreams" has a point. but he expresses himself in the most unpleasant manners.

every country has the right to deny entry for others. so does the UK and US do without proper explanation and reason.

But i still don't understand why a U.S. citizen has applied for a tourist visa, because U.S.citizens can purchase a visa upon arrival at Doha International Airport.

So you shouldn't have wasted time applying for any visa and just take a flight and come to Doha.

The main reason might be coming with a military plane to another airport. Sounds suspicious :))))

@ vselldreams .... and you sir are a wanker of the very highest order.... "Project Manager" indicates some semblance of respectability and authority however your words indicate someone who is no better than your predecessors who herded camels and went diving for pearls - at least they knew their place - you clearly have no idea where yours lies!! Evolution is a funny thing my friend - your sentiments indicate to me that you unlike some Qatari's have not yet evolved to a point where you could be considered a reasonable member of your society. Enjoy your wealth - you know what they say about wealth and class.........

as all said, the visa system in Qatar has no rules = no system. so it is all depends on your luck and the employer's mood,, and i suggest u go dubai nicer, better malls, more friendly :)

Qatar is realy funny when it comes to visa. Some how i cant seem to understand how, a lot of things function in Qatar, and visa is one of many.

Based on our per capita, we are one of the richest on planet earth. We don't need your peanuts that may be spent on the malls or in the immigration as visa fee for that matter.

We will reject the visa application of any body at any time with no apparent reasons; some times for having fun. (And we will not tell you why it is rejected)

It is our birth right and you have no right to complain about it.

When I left, I never thought of getting a "Letter of No Objection". The sponsor of our company was QIT, a travel business or something, we never saw them, they were just paid to sponsor the company. I suppose if I was going to ever go back to Qatar I would ask them for one, but I already employed and I've been gone for 18 months anyway, so like I said, it's easier to just fly to Kuwait instead and get a visa on arrival, then transfer to the main airport. It's Qatar's loss...they won't get to witness the awesomeness of Jdylan!

@ jdylan...your last words sum up this place mate..."a little ridiculous"...& that's putting it very lightly...for all you know, the guy processing your application was denied his "rights as a husband" the night before & he was mighty pissed off...nah just kidding! although it is definitely possible in this place...no one really has a clue so for all you know, they probably reject every 34th application or something & you my friend were the unlucky 34!...the frustrating bit is,they won't tell you why it was rejected...probably because, often they themselves don't know! :)...one hand doesn't know what the other is doing, the story of this town! :)...Kuwait has bigger malls & better shopping anyways mate!...

Tink, any visa needs an NOC within 2 years of leaving. No exceptions

As per my knowledge you should hold an NOC from your old company to apply another VISA in the same country. Otherwise you can't get back with in a span of two years.
