Funny incident
In 1982, we lived next door to Ahmed Hassan Bilal's family house (I think the Fardans live opposite him now). Outside Ahmeds was a sleeping policeman.
My wife heard a loud bang followed by a more muffled explosion and this was followed by thick black smoke coming over the garden wall.
She went out to see 5 very embarrassed looking soldiers shuffling their feet as their Landrover burned merrily away.
Apparently they hit the sleeping policeman hard and one of the "troops" had his gun's safety catch off. The gun had fired and he had shot the fuel tank, which exploded.
A true story.

You are quite right Cyman. I read this incident and was thinking that the sleeping policeman might have died by land rover hit. So failed to understand whats so funny about that poor 'sleeping policeman's' death.....lol....Honestly I was getting so angry with dweller and with his 'weired sarcasm'....lol...

Sorry, for a small hijacking here, but I feel the need to request the people who have english as their first language to avoid using expressions that are most probably unknown to most of the rest. You make our lives difficult especially when using your slang. Hey Jauntie dear....... don't you agree? :)))) Like for example ... sleeping policeman. If it wasn't for Aisha's clarification I would have walked away thinking dweller was confused when he was writing this. HAahahaha

I thought they ran over a sleeping policeman and shot him to boot. :)
I was already thinking the poor guy...what a way to go.... got ran over while sleeping, then accidentally shot and then burned under the Land Rover.... hehehe
not all would know what a 'sleeping policeman' is.
