Football in a cage!
There is going to be a Streetwise football game at Hyatt Plaza on 9th June, from 5pm to 10.30pm. I have never seen this, but it sounds like fun. This is a brief description of the 'football in a cage'. Just thought it might be interesting....
RULES
* Three players per side
* No fixed goalkeeper, the player who is last in line is allowed to catch the ball
* A game runs for 10 minutes without any interval
* Unlimited substitutions
* If the game ends in a draw, a panel of judges and referees decide the winning team on the basis of who showed more skill
* Special indoor football used, similar to a large tennis ball
* Player can have footwear or go barefoot
How The Cage Measures Up
* The cage is built of steel and measures 16 metres long, eight metres wide and 10 metres tall
* It has no fixed base and so can be set up just about anywhere
* The roof is made of canvas for safety should it come loose
* Goals are two metres wide and 1.4metres tall
* Playing surface is Astro-turf
The History
* Street Skillz 3-on-3 started last November in Saudi Arabia at Jeddah and Riyadh
* Starting this year, Snickers plan to hold an annual Road Show
* In 2007, from Sharjah the game moves on to Doha in Qatar from June 8-9, then to Riyadh from June 21-21 and finally to Jeddah from June 27-28
* The winners and runners-up from Sharjah, Doha and Riyadh will compete in the grand showdown at Jeddah with Snickers bearing all expenses.
Wow seems intresting...
