A Flydubai passenger jet carrying 62 passengers, crashed at the Rostov-on-Don airport today after making a second failed attempt at landing. It is learnt that all 62 people aboard perished in the crash.

The Boeing 737 had suffered from high winds and poor visibility before crashing.

Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov told media that the jet had been carrying 55 passengers and seven crew members when it crashed while reattempting to land.

It was scheduled to touch down at 1:20 a.m. local time, but went down at 3:50 a.m, Puchkov said.

Brit: I forget the exact numbers, but apparently, an unbelievably huge portion of the earth, skies and oceans remains uncharted and uncovered by satellite... The plane went down in a most remote part of the Indian ocean... Mh370 has already led to major pushes within the aviation industry for technology that connects a plane to the ground with constant updates and live streams... Each crash has improves things and lessons are learned... Small consolation to those who've lost a loved one though...

By mohdata• 22 Mar 2016 11:27

Yes Brit, what WT said... Even the aircrash investigation episode came to that conclusion as being the most likely... All transponders/communications switched off has meant only one thing in all previous cases; pilot suicide... The under water terrain they're searching is completely uncharted and with huge mountains, cliffs and trenches 6kms deep... Plus, if the plane hit the water in a vertical dive, it's shattered into a million pieces... So its likely not even a full wreck that's there to be found... The search operation has given itself until July to find the plane and are confident it's there in that last bit of search area to be combed... Lets see...I cannot wait I just can't... You should watch the aircrash investigation episode on mh370 it's the most thorough evaluation of all theories and possibilities yet...

WT: Our governments can track every little movement that North Korea makes , yet we're asked to believe that no one knows what happened to the plane

Investigators favor the theory that someone altered the plane's course and allowed it to fly until it ran out of fuel, but two years after the Boeing 777 disappeared from radar, that is still just a theory.

"We are no closer to understanding what happened and why it happened," said former Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, Mark Rosenker, who is now a CBS News aviation safety consultant.

There you have a "theory".

for those interested in knowing...

pilots are under immense pressure from airlines...

especially low cost airlines...

a delayed landing or a reroute costs the airline huge money...

like, really huge money...

the gulf carriers are rich and put safety first...

but other carriers try at all costs to land the plane....

the air controller put the plane in a holding pattern/loop for 2.5 hours in the hope the weather would improve...

all other flights went to another airport but this one risked it and paid the price...

hope the investigation is over soon; they've found the black boxes...

i'm no expert, not trying to be a smartass, just love planes and aviation and sharing what i learned from this amazing nat geo series called 'aircrash investogation'...you guys should watch one of the episodes on youtube; its amazing you wont be able to stop watching...have fun everyone...

According to some report Air craft black boxes had been found sent it to the investigation department for to know the cause of mishap.

Mr.brite, Do u think that aircraft flying (Round off) above the landing area more than 4 hours? .and might be he had lot of pressure from either his controller or passenger.

If the visibility was so bad then why did he attempt the landing

At least the black boxes have been found

the boeing 737 - 800 reportedly crashed 50 -100 meters left of the runway during its second landing approach due to poor visiblity.

Brit: Yup those are cross winds and any pilot worth his training can deal with it.. Its the invisible vertical forces that can throw or lift a plane several hundred feet without any pilot input... Takes skill and experience to fight that... And yes, I'm sure later episodes of aircrash investigation will feature this crash and identify pilot error as a primary factor, caused by secondary factors such as pressure by airlines on pilots to avoid delays, reroutes and diversions and the resulting monetary costs.... Its happened before and it will happen again...

By britexpat• 19 Mar 2016 12:27
britexpat

Mohdata: I stand corrected. Strong winds and gusts are daily occurrence in the UK and Scotland. So often you see planes coming on to land fighting these gusts

Anyway, what is interesting is that the pilots didn't abort the landing and continue to a safer place nearby

By mohdata• 19 Mar 2016 12:09
mohdata

Brit: As an avid ' air crash investigation' fan; high winds can be extremely dangerous when a few factors come together... They create vicious updrafts and downdrafts close to the ground during landing, which can and has completely flummox the newer generation of pilots that are so reliant on automation that their actual manual ' hand on control' skills leave a lot to be desired...

By mohdata• 19 Mar 2016 12:02

WT: You are equally guilty of all that you accuse MM of being; reading your exchanges on this post, I can't help but think you're a little boy on the internet... You even resort to blatant lies in your attempts to win these completely meaningless arguments with MM... You have flown planes you say?? Well I'm sorry to say, but some of the things you said about aviation; you wouldn't know what to do with a plane if it hit you in the face.... Oh and making fun of the Asian mentality while being Asian yourself? What a sorry sorry person you are...

Never mind, MM. A 737 will not get a "take-off" command if there aren't two pilots in the cockpit. It's a rule. But since you live in Qatar you probably think rules are there to be negotiated. It must be your Asian mentality.
