Democracy is a nonsense. Governments are always comprising of thugs who work for a benefit of certain groups & rest of the people are too afraid of raising their voices against these thugs. Who is protesting against whom? One group of thieves against other group of thieves. It will take a long time for a common man to understand the reality of world politics. Till then...........keep killing and dying.

Sadly, one of the givens in Egypt is that, when there’s a big enough crowd, Egyptian men will rape women. In February 2011, during the initial phase of Egypt’s “Arab Spring,” a mob near Cairo’s Tahrir Square attacked and sexually assaulted CBS reporter Lara Logan. Over the last few days in Tahrir square, even as Egyptians celebrated their revolution against the Muslim Brotherhood, men have assaulted at least 91 women, with many of them raped. One of the women who was brutally raped was a Dutch journalist (or, according to different reports, a tourist) who had to be hospitalized with severe injuries.

Brit: couldn't agree more!

I don't see how this is a victory for democracy in Egypt.

It was the Egyptian people that voted in the president, and now the mob demands his overthrow?

And to make things even worse big brother's untrustworthy friend “The military " steps in and dumps the president!

This is exactly the sort of situation that first world's Framers wanted to avoid when they laid down their Constitutions.

It is not about Morsi

The Egyptian as always proved that they can't take any decision.

Mursi is/was the first president with a democratic election and i think will be the last.

Nobody knows where the things will go now, but i think they will be feel better with a new dictator.

Morsi might not be the best, but they chose him, and now they are fighting him, ARE THEY PLAYING, ARE THEY KIDS?

Now they are about to face a damn civil war, they will forget about egypt and will be divided with Pro-Musri and Anti-Morsi.

Best Wishes Egypt, you deserve better that what you have.

Anyway back to the topic

After 30 years of being Handcuffed now they get the "Freedom", and they couldn't understand how to deal with it, they chose the wrong person or they didn't wait enough, at any case they are trying to solve their mistake in a wrong way.

HGL, The problem is, opinion is divided and the army is with the liberals. It's next to impossible that a peaceful settlement can be made without further protests or rioting. The condition is deepening spiraling into a civil war.

Best would be if everyone showed patience and allowed the democratic processes to go on. Even if Morsi hands over power to the second in command, the agenda of the government will be the same...dictated by the Muslim Brotherhood. Presently, there is no party that can beat MB, so re-election will not change the scenario.

By happygolucky• 3 Jul 2013 08:37
happygolucky

If I read it right on Guardian...that is what is the issue of the people of Egypt...they seem to say what Morsi is doing is not what they elected him for. And allowing him full term would make things difficult laters to reverse. As I said on another thread, the people who fought know better what their expectations were...it is good to remove someone who isnt meeting those expectations and doing something contrary to the expectations before it is too late to reverse the process and the Egyptians on the ground know it better than anyone of us. Hope they get what they want without much of harm to anyone.

By Knight Returns• 3 Jul 2013 08:36

Even if 100% of what you say is correct, the fact remains that he was elected by the people and must be allowed to complete his term. Then the people can vote him and his party out.

I don't like Ca-Moron or Clegg. I will go and peacefully protest against them, but I will not go out and try and overthrow the government.

Thankfully, the army in the UK knows its place. The Generals in Egypt think of themselves as Pharoahs.

Egypt is taking its part to make a way to implement islamic laws and the people are so stupid that they don't have any patience, harassment and raping of women in the protest tells all the story that there are stupid westerns after it and in the protest as well most of them are non muslims.

Reasons are simple..Mubarak ruled as a dictator for 30 years with an iron fist but he wasn't conservative. Staunch muslims couldn't protest to make the country more Islamic as they feared Mubarak. Thirty years of rule by one person gradually weakened the democratic bent of mind in people. Also, local political parties lost support of the mass.

Muslim Brotherhood is a big political party with its tentacles in neighbouring countries as well. Though conservative, through sheer political force, they managed to win the elections. They have a conservative muslim agenda that Morsi is trying to implement. This agenda is not liked by many liberals who have seen Mubarak's rule.
