Everyone says "I'm Fine"

svelte_saggi
By svelte_saggi

...but do they really mean it?I mean,99 out of every 100 people we ask "How are you?" answers "I'm fine"....but do you think they actually mean it?

hmmm.....food for thought.

Svelte maybe he does realise it but men can't always put it in words how much they care for their wives. They just love to act cool even when they are worried sick for their spouse.

wish my husband also realises it sometime soon.coz when i say "i'm fine" or "i'm okay",he takes it that i mean to say "i'm the happiest being alive now" x-(

Is it my job to make you feel good?.....LOL....i've been told that a couple of times....and the person just walks off leaving me with an exclamation mark on my face and with a feeling to kick myself for even thought of asking "how are you?" :-D

Svelte,

Agree with you. Everyone is fine b'cos we don't need false sympathy or empathy. God forbid you say you're not fine. Then the digging starts, just to make themselves feel good, not you.

But the worst are those that say "I'm fine if you're fine." What does that mean? Is it my job to make you feel good?

being offensive is totally uncalled for,i do agree.but instead of saying "i'm fine" (which implies directly that everything is happening in my life just the way i want it to be),a simple "i'm okay" would suffice,no?

naah....it's not a trick question at all....but yeah,it's not easy to understand when a woman says "i'm fine" coz she might/might not mean anything else.god made us complicated so that men spend an entire lifetime to try and decipher us....and finally realise at the end of the road that he hasn't understood anything about her :-D LOL

How does it matter to a random person or a stranger ? I normally say “am Good”! even if am not..

But some one who cares ask… if am not good I will tell that…

And vice versa…I really don’t want to know how he/she is ….I really mean it only when I ask ppl I care…its just like a greeting phrase when asked to strangers..

By snessy• 5 Nov 2009 10:05

Svelte - I agree with you, its far easier to say I'm fine, otherwise they'll be awkward silences or having to delve further into why you're not fine. Unless its someone close to you asking, then that's completely different, you can be totally honest.

Saggi is this a trick question? Like when we men ask if something is wrong, you reply NOTHING? But its actually something and we need to give up our family and friends and job to go to the jungles and meditate for 40 years without food to gain enlightenment to be able to read your mind?

Today i'm very fine thanks for asking :P

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

PLEASE GO THROUGH THIS

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 1.27 Narrated by Abdullah bin Amr

A person asked Allah`s Messenger (saws) "What (sort of) deeds in or (what qualities of) Islam are good?" He (saws) replied, "To feed (the poor), and greet (with Salaam) those whom you know and those whom you don`t know."

Greeting one another with ‘Salaams’ and supplications, and the shaking of hands when greeting, regardless if one uses only the right hand or one wishes to clasp both hands, is indeed from amongst the preferred Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws).

"everytime you ask me "how are you?" you remind me that i'm NOT fine, so please don't ask me "how are you" anymore because i'm NOT fine, don't even ask me how r things, things are NOT OK"

"you know what, when you see me next time, just ignore me and i promis i won't get offended, on the contrary, it'll be a pleasure."

that's exactly how i feel when i meet a happy friend of mine here in Qatar.
