Ever notice that you can't carry on a one sided arguement???

Scarlett
By Scarlett

for some people, life is one big arguement. They receive the most pleasure out of the attention they get when they are spouting their hatred and slanted viewpoints. To those people I say..shame on you and get a life.

I always taught my children when they say..."Well, HE started it!!", was..."The SMART one ends it, and the way to end it, is to just quit talking to the other person." No talk, no way to argue back. End of story.

You are giving some people the attention they so direly want to have and thus, they are achieving what they have desired most...a public forum and an audience where they can perform. Soliloqies will not last long on here if no one listens. They will die a very quick death.

So..in closing...if a tree falls in the forest..does it make a noise??? Not if there is no one to listen...

Pearls of Wisdom

"Fourteen Things That It Took Me Over 50 Years To Learn" by Dave Barry

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

2. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings."

3. There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".

4. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.

5. You should not confuse your career with your life.

6. Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

7. Never lick a steak knife.

8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

10. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.

11. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.

12. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above-average drivers.

13. A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.)

14. Your friends love you anyway.

This tirade is just that... tiring

People, this sitting round endlessly name-slinging, blaming, mind-murdering each other, etc. is just too much. It is easy for me sometimes to be ashamed that I am a part of this human-race, never mind a 'westerner'. This bashing just goes on. It goes on and on and on and on.. and on... and on... and on... and on... and on...

You sound like broken records. Where is the respect for all people all around you, the ones who allow you to be in their country & not forgetting your fellow countrymen who allow you the freedom to reminisce and remember the old times? Where? Never mind respect, but a gratitude to the fact that you HAVE a life, and spending it in a beautiful country. Where is the thankfulness? All I hear is negativeness and whining.....

The thread earlier was about 'wasting' energy on one certain person, yet the comms did not stop there. Walk the talk is my suggestion! Don't keep flogging a dead horse.

Instead of sitting around slamming others, slandering this one and that one, why not make yourselves useful and go to Iraq. Go help the homeless, the hungry, the destitute, the orphans, the injured, the helpless....... Be useful. Make your lives worth living, make it a useful one. This constant backwards and forwards is energy draining, you admitted it, yet you carry on.

Give it up...

Like everything there are good and bad, but the attitude of a lot of Aussies is disgusting.

When I went to Syria and Egypt so many Arabs said to us....'we would love to go to Australia'.....and I thought to myself, no you wouldn't, not with the racism the government has infused into the country over the years.

When my hsuband was coming home from Jordan last year, they stopped this 70+ Arab guy at Sydney airport and started interrogating him...even though he has been living in Oz for the last decade. My husband went at the security, calling them racist scumbags blah blah and then interrogated him...LOL....they went through his suit case and found Arabic text books which they confiscated. They couldn't understand why a westerner would speak Arabic. I could tell you so many stories that would make your blood boil!!

Ban me from the country???!!! I thought this is a free democtratic website! I thought that you say what you want, people can reply you, people can ignore you, moderators can delet/adjust your words, or even break the law & ban you. I never thought that you can take the game to the streets. You seem to have a lot of authority in the government? Are you a VIP? From which country are you? Will I be banned from the country with or without a trial? Will you allow me to have a lawyer?

I am not joking. I really wanna understand. So far, I understand that this is a democratic country & I have seen some committee of human rights. I also see that the newspapers are much better, freedomwise, than many other countries. I also remember reading in the newspapers that crime & AIDS is almost 0% here which means it is a clean healthy community but this is the 1st time actually that I hear that you can have a dispute on the internet with someone, and that someone can deport you from this country. Can you please elaborate?

I met some Australians when I was in Germany this month and the hateful stuff that came out of their mouths was just awful. They actually referred to black people by the n-word. They were heading to the States next and I told them they'd be better off going back to Australia cause that kind of attitude would get them killed in the States.

Yeah the media and the government. It's all this 'war on terror' crap that people listen to on TV (the news is shocking in Oz) and they think that most Arabs are terrorists. The funny thing is, most have never met Arabs but they are full of so much hate :( It's really sad and frustrating.

Noone told me there were calories involved! In that case i'm ready to fight all day and all night! Bring it on! lol

But on a more serious note, did u know how many people post on a 'happy' thread with common interest and how many post on a 'bashful' one ? It's the same as the media...bad stories get more coverage. It's human nature I guess...always wanting the bad side of things. Strange. But hey we're hell of a wierd species!

And I realized after all of those arguments for the past days, is that some people really just thrive for attention (good or bad)...even if they have no clue of what they're saying! They just want the spotlight...and those people I say...GO SEE A SHRINK!
