Euthanasia

QTips

Hi all,

What's your view about euthanasia? Do you think it is humane and the right thing to do to a beloved pet who's a 13 yr. old poodle suffering from tumor?

I know it's hard to accept that her time is near but it's also a pain to see her suffering. I can't decide, whether to 'do it or not'.

Give me your 2 cents ppl.

Thanks

QTips, only do it when you think she's not living a happy life anymore, i.e. when she's in pain. The vet should advise you on the best time to do it.

QTips, it's hard but it's the humane thing to do. Knowing that doesn't make it any easier on you, though. Keep on thinking on how happy she was while still with you.

Alexa, she had one small lump removed late last year, now there's a bigger one on her tummy. The doctor said she might not hold up the anesthesia for the operation due to her age. Vet also advised to put her to sleep if the time has come and pain is too much for the dog to bear. Right now she's still feeling better if given 1/3 tablet of panadol.

We had to put my dog down when she was 18, the vet informed us that her hips were about to snap at any moment, and more then likely it would happen while we were at work or school and she would be lying in agony until we found her. We chose to put her down. It was the right decision.

Definitely I will approve Euthanasia for any pet living in those conditions.

Think that the choice is clear. If it is suffereing without hope of getting any better, then let it go. Its incredibly hard but the best thing for everyone involved in the long run.

Good luck.
