The Criminal Investigation Department arrested a four member gang of European nationals who has stolen items worth more than 8 million Qatari Riyals from a Jewelry shop in Al-Sadd area. The perpetrators were arrested within 48 hours of committing the crime.

Once the CID received the information, an action plan was prepared for speedy arrest of the culprits and to conduct investigations and collect information. The initial investigation indicated that behind the crime, there are four persons from European nationalities who entered the country through the visa granted for nationals of 33 countries on arrival. It also became evident that they are residing in a hotel near by the gold market.

After legal proceedings and obtaining the permission from prosecutors, the CID arrested perpetrators by trapping them and while searching them large sums of money were found. The car they were using also was seized and the investigations revealed that they leased it from Rent a car company.

Large quantities of jewelry, watches in addition to passports and fake credit cards also were found in the car. Apart from these, some of the tools that are used for theft and for breaking doors also were found. The interrogation revealed the complete plan and execution details of the crime.

The CID urges businesses and shop owners to take precautions and follow all procedures required to protect their properties from theft by installing surveillance cameras and early warning systems that connect with the Ministry of the Interior.

Molten, sorry but you've been postwhoring all the way. Please explain to us, if you can, what's the connection between the European crisis and this crime.

Someone who feels desperate and steals to provide for his family would not travel all the way to this country to steal eight million riyals... that's roughy 1.5 million Euros. We are talking about ORGANIZED CRIME!

The average income of a middle-class family in western Europe is somewhere between 18-26.000 Euros per year, minus taxes! How many wages con you pay out of 1.5 million???

It's disgusting just to read how many are wallowing in people's tragedy, as if that is really going to make them feel better about themselves.

The never ending BS anti-western campaign on QL.

UBS, Switzerland’s largest bank, will cut as many as 10,000 jobs companywide as the trading business shrinks, a person with knowledge of the plan said. Many of the reductions will come in the trading businesses and probably will occur over several quarters, said the person.

An announcement may come when UBS reports third-quarter earnings tomorrow.

The beat criminals are those in governments(i dont mean qatari before anyone says leave this country) those that are in business also. Is there such thing as an honest business man. You have try and sell a product even if its rubbish to gain maximum profit ie banks and so forth. .Governments worldwide make so much money and those at the top becoming much more wealthier. This is not done by having big salaries its done by much more. Quite often the more they have the more they crave. The fact that they are european can be seen as irrelevant to the crime, as people of different ages and nationalities are ripping people off and stealing from others all the time.

'' .. The global economic crisis has been a massive stimulus package for .. crime worldwide, Michael Klare writes in Salon. Crime syndicates are finding it easy to recruit from the growing ranks of the unemployed and desperate, the professor writes, and their increasing power is weakening the governments of "narco-states" from Latin America to Africa.

The spike in piracy on the high seas is one symptom of the crime epidemic, Klare writes ...

... but mass layoffs there appear to be fueling a rise in crime and consequent state repression—a process likely to be repeated in many other places without urgent action to help the world's destitute.

Molten, everything you just posted is the awful truth, but still... does that prove that the robbery has any connection with the crisis in Europe?

If MOI can prove that there is, then I'm sure the Qatari Government could figure out the antidote for Europe's economic turmoil.

Spain’s jobless rate broke the 25% for the first time in modern history as austerity cuts squeezed the recession-struck economy, the government said yesterday.

Tens of thousands of jobs were destroyed in the third quarter as Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s government raised taxes, cut spending and pondered whether to seize a eurozone rescue line.

The unemployment rate rose to 25.02% in the third quarter — the highest since General Francisco Franco’s death in 1975 — from 24.63% in the previous three months, official data showed.

Among workers aged 16-24 the jobless rate towered at 52.34% in the third quarter, only slightly down from 53.27% in the previous quarter, the National Statistic Institute said.

“They are very negative figures,” said Soledad Pellon Bannatyne, market strategist at brokerage IG Markets.

“We are talking about the highest unemployment rate in the history of Spain. It’s beating new records and that is perhaps the worst part of what this crisis is leaving us.” Pellon predicted no improvement for next year, either.

She said the economy needed to grow by more than 1.5% in order to generate new jobs but even the government’s optimistic forecast was for a economic contraction of 0.5% in 2013.

“With that 0.5% fall there won’t be a single job created. More than that, with that 0.5% fall we will carry on destroying jobs,” the economist said.

After more than a year of recession, the soaring jobless figures and biting cuts have prompted growing street protests and unions have called a general strike for November 14.

The jobs figures, the latest chapter in a long, grim economic story for Spain, had only a short impact on the stock exchange, with the IBEX-35 index recovering most of its losses following strong US growth figures to close 0.05 points lower at 7,775.6 points.

A total of 5.78mn people searched in vain for work in the July-September quarter, up 85,000 from the previous three months, the official data showed.

The number of Spanish households in which every member is out of work climbed to 1.74mn — or one in ten of Spanish homes.

The jobless rate was “eye-catching” but the biggest concern was the cumulative fall in employment over the past 17 quarters, said Raj Badiani, London-based economist at analytical group IHS.

Spain’s jobs drama is being fed by a recession that is now moving into a second year, according to the Bank of Spain.

The economy has been shrinking since mid-2011 and is expected to decline again in the third quarter of 2012 at a rate of 0.4%, the same as in the previous three months, the central bank had said earlier in the week.

But “to the person on the street, the destruction of several million jobs since late-2007 coupled with an unemployment rate at 25.0% are a more relevant guide to the depth of recession, and even suggest that Spain is being engulfed by near-depressionary conditions,” Badiani said.

Employment will sink further in 2013 as austerity cuts chip away at public sector jobs and as private firms are hit by slumping demand, he said. At the same time, the property market had yet to hit bottom.

So if I am understanding right as a kid if you were told of a story about an elephant and a rat where the elephants name was say Raja you would have asked whoever was telling you the story to bring you to that elephant else the story is crap, right. But my best guess is, you neever were told stories as a kid. BTW do know of something called "building up a story" around a title. As starters I would suggest you pick up newspapers (a decent english newspaper) of about a month and read the news, articles etc etc and see if the title is exactly what is in the body.... you may learn something by the time you finish reading all those 30 papers. The money as seized from a 39-year-old male of African origin and an accomplice of the same nationality.

“The money, which amounted to more than 13 million riyals, was hidden in the back door and rear seats of the car,” Abu Dhabi Customs said in a statement.

Italian workers rally against job losses and plant closures .. Reuters/Rome

Thousands of Italian trade unionists rallied in central Rome yesterday to protest growing job cuts and factory closures, urging Mario Monti’s government to do more to help workers hit by a year-long recession.

“We’re here to support all the workers who are in dispute with their companies during this economic crisis,” said protester Michele Giuliva as she joined the rally organised by the left-leaning CGIL union, Italy’s biggest.

“The government is thinking only of bond spreads.”

Italians are grappling with a prolonged economic slump, unemployment has risen to its highest since monthly records began in 2004 and unions are locked in growing disputes with companies over plant closures and lay-offs.

Austerity measures passed by Monti to cut debt and reassure bond markets after he replaced former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi last year have further fuelled discontent, as tax hikes and spending cuts eat into incomes.

Workers from all sectors of industry gathered in the square outside Saint John’s Basilica, a traditional rallying point for left-wing protests, holding red balloons and banners with slogans such as “Go away Monti”.

CGIL said on its website that it was urging the government to focus on measures that encourage investment and boost employment, particularly among young people and women.

Yesterday’s rally was the latest in a string of protests held against the Italian government, and comes as demonstrations and strikes are mounting again across debt-laden southern Europe from Greece to Spain.

Threatened closures at factories such as Alcoa’s aluminium plant in Sardinia and the Ilva steel plant in southern Italy have led to angry protests and strikes by workers fearing for their jobs.

On Friday, a court ordered car maker Fiat to rehire 145 workers that it had dismissed earlier this year over a union dispute.

The workers are members of CGIL’s metal industry arm which refused to sign up to new working conditions imposed by Fiat.

and recently i saw in news that one of the employee's wife in King Fisher Airlines did suicide just because his employer didnt pay her husband for 6 months.. And in suicide note she wrote that we dont have anything even to feed our kids & we are in financial crisis..

so if a poverty can lead some1 to suicide, why not to stealing...
