English Nurse looking for work in Doha
My wife has recently joined me in Doha under my sponsorship and is looking to further her career as a Nurse here. She's had a couple of offers but neither were particulary lucrative - the best beeing 5500QR per month working 6 days a week with no holiday for the first year and the worst being a disgraceful 1500QR per month with also working 6 days per week!
Is there anyone on here who works in one of the hospitals who would be able to offer us any advice towards her job hunt?
Thanks,
Hi Jolene,
Thanks for your reply.
We have applied at the orthopeadic hospital but have been turned down as my wife doesn't have the right kind of experience.
I was just talking to the lady at the agency in the UK who recruited me for Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital and she said they are currently looking for 25 nurses at that hospital. However she is recruiting in the UK but I bet if you rang the number given above for HR they should be able to advise on how to apply. However Janice is no longer working there and I'm not sure of the new lady's name.
Medway
I am working at the Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. i am not sure of the current status on nurses, but you can try. If she pops in with her CV, we are in the Sports city area, just beside Aspire.
Hi Medway, HMC is not a nice place to work. I survived there for just over a year before I just couldn't take it anymore. The director of nursing there is good, however the rest.... You could try the new Qatar Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Hospital. The only number I have is for the Manager of Human Resources, Janice Avison on 413 6317.
I was told that HMC is currently hiring nurses, in fact they had post an ads @ Gulftimes yesterday to certain post related to Nursing. Wait let me find that ads.
ok, here....
1. Utilization Reviewer- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
2. Patient Relations Coordinator (PRC)- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing.

Good Luck to you wife Medway - think she will find it very hard here to find work.
There are trained nurses that accept a very low wage here - by UK standards, as in their own country the wage they can earn is even lower, so they can make money here. So it is them that fill in the jobs, they are recruited in their home country.
Think she will need to contact HMC as I think she have to take exams to be able to work in Qatar, she may need a licence to work here.
