Is England Good for Nothing?

JackSully
By JackSully

After recent matches of England and their loss to Ireland & Bangladesh, a natural question arises, ‘is England good for nothing?’
Is there anything great in sports, or otherwise too, achieved by England? Or, are they just living on old laurels?
Are they good only in politics (I mean dirty politics) for example lying of WMDs in Iraq and dragging the world peace to tatters ?

Because the Latin version (of sports) means this:

1.PLEASURE

2.SATISFACTION

3.ENJOYMENT

4.DELIGHT

5.GRATIFICATION

6.EASE

I must step up to the ockey and take exception. This was originaly introduced by Queen Boudicea when confronting the Roman hordes. however, over the years, it has become more refined. The tools have become more streamlined and lighter whereas the participants have become heavier.

England is competitive in football but not excellent. In test cricket they are currently excellent. Rugby goes up and down but generally they produce a good squad. In men's tennis Britain is doing unusually well.

In the summer Olympics, Britain has been very competitive in men's and women's sports. In 2008 they came in fourth for overall for total medals.

So yes, I would say for a country of 50 million they are not doing badly.

I am keeping everything crossed (well some bits) that we do crush the Kiwis lol (not nice I know) but it would be great x

Beating NZ at home if a tough ask, but I would like to see England play India or Pakistan at Rugby. How those tiny Asians would be crushed.... they would probably come on QL and complain its racist that Europeans are bigger than them....

There we were Tinkers and I - her in her belly dancing garb; me in my Riverdance stuff waiting for you and your Monoploy board :-(

We ended up playing Twister :-)

Hey perhaps we could make that our national sport- after winning The Ashes and the rugby?

This is not bashing:-

"Are they good only in politics (I mean dirty politics) for example lying of WMDs in Iraq and dragging the world peace to tatters ?"

I see you are creating ID's a little earlier now and leaving them a while to try and disguise your activities. But you are incapable of disguising your hate and bitterness. How long will this ID last I wonder?

Thank you cabbage for being 'first' to 'attack'...

I wish they'd have won the world cup by now, going by their bragging....

Cricket is a weird game when it comes to consistency. Many big teams have lost to the minnows, so do England.

By anonymous• 13 Mar 2011 09:05

They won the Ashes :-)

I think you are a little niave if you think this won't turn into a bashing thread.

You have gone from a cricket game to war.......

If someone thinks it’s for bashing, NO, these are genuine questions, history will ask, time & again, and they have to answer it, ..peace!!!
