Electricity Generators 24/7 on in West Bay

By ivanlondres

My wife is concerned with the noisy electricity generators in West Bay area where we might decide to live in (residential towers). She wrote a letter to the municipality and I decided to put the letter here so maybe someone in QL can point out the direction to get our complain directed to the right municipal or legislative body. Incha-la.

Best Regards

Ivan

To whom it may concern:

Mahaba,

I would like to communicate my concern about the noise of electricity generators in West Bay area.

I am brazilian who just have moved to Doha for my husband work, and looking for a flat to move in. After weeks looking, we decided to stay close to my husband's work, at glamurous West Bay - Diplomatic District, which has many Embassies and Offices, including the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.

We were thinking to move in there, and we realize how many generators of eletricities are around, making the most noisy noise that I have heard before, without any sound insulation.

Going directly to the point: is it possible to prevent the Doha citizens, the workers and the tourists of this noise, having a "sound protection insulation " on thoses generators, , and finally giving better health to the labours, to the whole neibourhood, to our well-being, health and our mind? Some much is spend on real estate nowadays and so little in the environment protection!"

Please, let me know if you receive that message and I will be able to work on it since I really want to live in that area.

Many thanks in advanced for you attention.

Sincerely,
Fernanda Londres

We all humans are like that. What they (Brazilian family) must have meant is to start with their neighbourhod and then go anywhere else i.e. if at all one needs to coverup Gen sets in entire Doha.

You know what.. i have got a brilliant idea (Now no one is gonna steal it after I divulge the details). I will surely start looking for Canopy manufacturers and start approaching for business to all the contractors.

ivanlondres: The first contractor I am gonna aproach is the one working near your place. My neighbourhood is cool. Only vehiclular noice.

You missed the point wholly,

Going directly to the point:

is it possible to prevent the Doha citizens, the workers and the tourists of this noise, having a "sound protection insulation " on thoses generators, , and finally giving better health to the labours, to the whole neibourhood, to our well-being, health".

This has to do with Human Rights, but mainly Brazilian family rights they don't care about you or me they care firstly about themselves. Note "neighbourhood" not Doha

Human rights as a word seems not in any dictionary available to law makers in ME. It applies to all other aspects of life too here.

I may exacerate but i know I feel as if i need a govt. permit and my sponsor's consensual letter for going to a public lavatory.

Lets not loose track of West Bay generators and the noice.. I dont want to be held responsible for steering this topic to human rights.

SHUT THEM DOWN... ALL OF THEM GENERATORS.

I think like many people I am very lucky to be given a place to stay by my company - so not having much choice I live in West Bay and in the most part its a very pleasant place to be, I just wish that once in a while they would turn of the generators on the construction site if they are not working over night... or even a few hours between say 11pm and 4am? Anything would be delightful....

Is considered the best place to stay in Doha, sound pollution should be cleared with the new windows - it says what - it says don't pay so much money for the home without knowing what is offered.

But the Human rights aspect was a great concern - they don't care a flock about human rights in Brazil why should they care here?????

Everyone some or the other time do tend to exacrate a bit. Agreed 60% is a little on the upper side but enclosures do cost a lot.

Do read my post properly.. I said if this is on for the night too, it should have a sound proof enclosure.

I am absolutely not for noise pollution but only was looking from a contractors view point.

What the heck.. do pass a law in Qatar an enclose all sound making machines

NO I dont live in Alfarden Towers - not important exactly where I am, lets just say that I am in a residental tower in Westbay and I'm pretty sick of the noise at night... Please bear in mind with little sleep last night I am feeling a little grumpy... :(

Please incarcerate the alleged next door terrorists. The whole town would be able to sleep in peace. Its just one damn family. After all majority is authority.

Please dear Karwa turn off the generators because one Brazilian family feel that the noise is too loud and the labourers and citizens are suffering from the pollution but most of all "Fernanda Londres" my family .

We don't really care that the whole of Qatar might be affected by this decision and we come from Brazil (where Human Rights are of no concern to us)but please give this family it's New Year wish and shut the electricity generators down in Qatar.

Finally we will not need Human Rights because if you shut down the generators in order that we can live happily ever after most of the population will be dead and then we can live and work in peace Ameen

Yes, there is a economic reason for not having noise insulation (maybe 60% a little too much?), but nevertheless there is a environmental and social reason for having it in place.I really want development to happen in a fast pace because this is what makes us important in the area of the planet.

However the development needs to be sustainable, taking into consideration not only the economic side, but also the social and environment perspectives. Meeting today's needs without compromising future generations needs.

SKDKAK, I am taking the bloody electricity generators up all night, not the noise coming from the construction work itself like bulldozers and hammers. Those are music to my ears!!

KELLYB, do you live near Alfardan Towers? Is the noise that bad? I confess I am worried with your comment...Which floor are you in?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the effort to turn off the generators... this is a plea from a west bay resident that again didn't sleep last night because of them. It would be almost acceptable if there were people working but 9 times out of ten there is no work going on, just the whirring of generators generating nothing.

I know it's the 'circle of life' and all that but a few nights a week restbyte would be sublime!

Industrial products are as it is are not cheap anywhere, least of all Iin Qatar. For sound proof enclosures for each and every generator set the budget of each Generator will go up by min 60%. I am talking economics here.

As for construction.. thatz happening everywhere and maximum times it is the buildings that we expats are gonna work & live in.

If no construction.... no work visas... no jobs & no expats... its a loop.

I am sorry if I jumped the gun.. I mean if u are referring generator sets running in nights.. which i am not aware of.. then those should be DEFINITELY enclosed.
