..get to watch English Premiership matches live on your satellite/cable services with the same frequency as Brits in the UK do on SKY Sports, or is this a purely occassional thing?
..I'm still in the UK but just about to come out there.. tell me about your experiences with this Slingbox device. Is it reliable? How is the viewing? Are you able to manipulate the SKY menu as normaly as you would at home? Any issues with Qtel? Are there any minimum upload/download broadband capacity requirements? I'm reaching a bit now, but what about the HD channels?? I'm really curious about this cos I'd love to be able to watch all my favourite channels (SKY Sports, MTV Base, Film 4, Fox New) that I know I simply won't find anywhere else.
Last time I was this excited about something I proposed to my wife.
One thing you guys may be interested in (and I just bought one in Uk) is the slingbox.
You plug it into your sky or tv system at home then it transmits the signal over your broadband internet connection. You can then watch sky or whatever whereever you are in the world if you have a broadband connection.
You can even change the channel from here.
I have mine connected to my mum's sky system and her broadband.
Yea i know... there was an iranian channel that was supposed to aswell. I lost bbc prime just before the world cup too. The bouquet that was transmitting it started changing the scramble codes every 30 mins or so as opposed to every few months. cracking codes isnt fun anymore... too much effort :(
A couple of free-to-air german and austrian channels (i forget the names) were set to broadcast the games on hotbird. ART threatened to sue them since they had "exclusive" broadcasting rights in the middle east. go figure..
don't know. the ART sports channels seem to be popular with the lads.
and yes i heard people were going for these dodgy shops. i hate to condone satellite piracy but it serves the greedy fat cats at ART right for forcing people to get yearly subscriptions to channels they're never going to watch after the world cup.
But if I hadn't I would've done what many others did; they went to sat shops in Al Mergab and had their receivers hacked for 20 riyals to receive European broadcasts of the games.
question though. is there a dealer for firstnet in doha? i know that during the whole world cup fiasco there was some sort of underground market where yearly subscriptions were being sold for 1700 QR, while you can get the very same package for about 1200 QR from Dubai.
The lengths some people would go to make a quick buck..
we don't get SKY in the middle east. you can watch most of the english premiership games on cable (ART/Firstnet I think..guys correct if i'm wrong on this one).

i assume you would want them for rugby, super. but isn't showtime broadcasting rugby games on its SportsNET World Channel?
No idea.

What satellite is it broadcast on?
I asked about that here super and they said no. There are other ways, but the effort may be more than its worth.

e46m3 is it possible to get a receiver hacked to get supersports (south african channels) for free?

Im afraid the hacks were only good until the scramble code was changed. For the world cup that was at least daily!!!!

I got my World Cup Irdeto card for free.

I'm pretty sure you can get it through the satellite distributors here.
The only channel I'd like off of ART is National Geographic.
