Driving during Foggy conditions
I have observed in foggy conditions, people tend to put on the hazard lights and they drive at their own will and change line at their own will, which is not correct, one should never put on hazard light while driving in foggy conditions, headlights and fog lights should be put on and continue driving normally, what is your observations ??
inter2006, what does using hazard lights during foggy conditions do with third world mentality? i really hate this third world first world second world thing!
=Dura Lex Sed Lex=
"they drive at their own will and change line at their own will..." --- hah! they always drive like this even when it's not foggy...why doesn't that surprise me... :/
I agree, hazard lights should not be used while driving in the fog. They are annoying and dangerous. One cannot tell if the driver in front will switch right or left lane. Annoying because thay cause much glare while blinking to the driver behind. Use of hazard lights is another third world mentality. Same as honking your horn just when the red light turns green.
Hazard lights usually indicate the car is travelling at a slower rate then the other vehicles.
But if the driver is driving slower then others then he should use the right lane as opposed to left lanes.
i feel there is a general notion while using hazard light that is, orange lights go far than normal headlights so the driver who is speeding behind you and ahead of you spots fast. normal headlights gets spread in the fog. using foglights hasn't given much benefit, i think i would have to buy the yellow fog lamps for safer view on highways.
i would say that if you are slow driver on foggy conditions better drive on slow track with hazard light on rather than pulling off, since to get complete clear on the track it takes around 9.

eaglemmanuel. Are you as thick as the early morning fog!
If I see foggy conditions I GET OFF THE ROAD as soon as I can find a safe place to pull over.
Anything wrong with that?

Yeah, pull over BEFORE you get into the fog, right? If already in, then it's dangerous to stop by the side, isn't it? Some crazy joker might just crash into you, even if you're stationary on the road shoulder.

At least the police were pulling over trucks this morning :o)
Only 1/2 the nutters left on the road!
Did you Google it first?

Just pull well off the road and wait for the fog to lift, if it means you are late for work too bad...
EM, I'm pretty sure you don't drive a Great Wall pickup truck ;o)

Wuz dat me? *bats eyelids*
/Nah, I was on 3rd lane from right... just in case, because 1st 2 lanes might have crazy lorries nipping around in the fog, playing tag.

Try telling that to the arse this morning who sat in the outside lane all the way from Wakra to Messaid with his hazard lights on despite there being many occasions he could have pulled over. If you are a hazard, get the hell out of the way!!!!

Hmm.. yeah, international driving rules - headlights and fog lights but in Qatar, I was told to use the hazard lights.
The cars do not "drive at their own will and change lane at their own will. You just cannot see the left or right turn signals. I normally, turn off the hazard lights and then signal and change lane and then turn on the hazard lights again. I normally stick to one lane unless edged out. This morning was really thick fog. Last week was also but this morning was worse.
