Drive to UAE by Car - Traffic Fine & Accident
By indigo_res •
I am travelling to Dubai by Car on coming Eid Holidays. I am confused with two subjects
What happens if you get a traffic fine in UAE? Will it be collected in Qatar?
What happens if you have an accident in UAE in terms of Insurance? If it is minor accident can the vehicle be brought back to Qatar and do repair under insurance cover here (Of cause it’s a third party insurance while driving in UAE and the question is about an accident due to other party’s fault)
Appreciate if you share your experience
I was disappointed and need to change the plan now. Saudi not issuing return transit now due to Hajj rush. They are issuing only one way transit starting from 16th Oct 2011 (for 2 weeks only) untill further notice (expected to change after Eid).
Oh I would also be very careful about a woman not wearing an abaya as well - regardless of the fact you are just travelling through - if you break down or have to go into a shop or gas station etc etc people will not be very happy at the no abaya and the police - if they wanted -could take action - it is no big deal wearing the abaya - wow i lived there for 2 years wearing one - i would always say it is better to be safe than sorry!!!!
just to comment on the time at the border from Saudi to UAE - Khalidsaleem23 said he spent 6-7 hours there last Eid - we travelled last Novemeber Eid and from the start to finish at the border the whole process took an hour thats all!! As for insurance - as you get through the border there ar insurance booths where you buy your uae insurance which you HAVE to have btw - regardless of your insurance coverage.
Hi dhador, your wife can wear anything she likes as you are going to Dubai :) no need for abaya or anything special, preferably of coarse to keep it always decent :)
Thundorty:) thanks for the info....just want to ask question also, how about for lady, is it ok if my wife will not wear abaya as long as she is covered and decent?have you seen other ladies not wearing abaya?how about the road going uae, is it good?

For the fines, it will be registered and forwarded to Qatar, you'll pay it in Qatar but according to the UAE fines regulations. If you are going in Eid holiday, try to leave two days before Eid, as I've done it before and was travelling one day before Eid and it was a complete disaster because of the traffic at the borders. I've actually spent 18 hours to reach Dubai (10 of them on borders). If you are travelling one day before Eid, I would recommend you start very late at night as everybody is going early.
@Khalidsaleem what time did you start from Qatar? I heard that it will be OK if I start early in the Morning. Any advise?
You will recieve fine in Qatar and ur insurance company will not cover any damage outside Qatar unless you have GCC insurance which you can buy from insurance company.
Since you are travelling during Eid Holidays so be ready for huge traffic at Saudi Exit and Abu Dhabi entry as it is common for Qatar, Saudi, Bahrain, Kuwait and UAE/Oman Travellers. I travelled Dubai last Eid and spend 6-7 hours on borders.
No I am planning to apply for the transit visa on 10th
Indigo and Craaj18 :) friends what is your plan date?, we are planning also by road to uae wd my family on November 4, early morning....can we go together because this is our first time...hope it is ok with you...thanks :)
Hi Me too planning to travel to dubai during eid holidays... did u get ur saudi transit visa???
Traffic fine will appear against your number plate in Qatar Traffic Department but it will be clearly mentioned that the fine is for the UAE traffic violation. I have no idea about the repair issue.
