Dress Code The Issue
Hello everyone, i have been reading the news papers lately and the comments on the forum of QL on dress code issue and to my surpise i found something rather funny today in the afternoon. I had gone to Al Meera today at Al Mansoora to buy my usual groceries and came across some hungry hyena's standing at the corner of the entrance, i was wondering what was all that about and to my knowledge i came across this young i must say (sexy) looking women i am not sure if she was with her boy friend or husband what ever, dressed in nice sexy black short shorts and a t-shirt. For sure she was new to qatar, and was not aware of the dress code issue in doha. I mean from my view i found her perfectly decent and she carried her self very nicely, but the fact was about the unwanted attention that she was getting as i could make out people staring thier eyes on her, indeed provacative. I lived in thailand and over there this is a common scene and no one really cares what one wears as the culture and life style is like that over there, so for me it was a usual thing. But rather i found it awkward to see how people react on seeing such a female. The second issue was little later as i had been to KFC (CENTER) branch and there i come across a filipino man dressed in sporty wear with short shorts, not bad thou but i could make out a arab women passing some comments on him, it did not look bad thou but i guess this country is not ready for such kind of attire worn by people at public places.
For the sake of decency, i would suggest people to cover themselves up. i know its hot and really hot, i too love to wear shorts and move around, but i have been adviced not to do so. I accept the culture here and will live as per the norms stipulted to me.
Anyway this was only a piece of information, Good Luck and cover up you pretty women.lol
Wow..........................thats all i can say.......mmmmm
Storm, I totally agree with you and thank you for writing this. What seems to be ok in your own/other countries is not good for here. I wish other people, including some here on QL would be so understanding and realistic about the culture.
Aisha-Taweela
yummmmm, short shorts!
yes please respect their culture and country. cover up people unless you are in clubbing/party with less supervision from the local.
I DO WHAT I LIKE, I LIKE WHAT I DO
Good advice. And Ramadhan coming up ... please do dress up more conservatively!
