DON'T VOTE FOR THE SELFISH QATARI GIRL!

hi everyone, as you are all aware there is the competition of inspiring woman of the arab world competition and the prize money for first place is $10,000. Anybody can vote for the people on this site www.spreadphiladelphia.com .

I was going to vote for the Qatari girl as inspiration but as a Qatari I was angry when I saw her comments about her own home country on here, which is contradicting what she says in her article for people to vote for her! She is not an inspiration and is doing this for her own selfish reasons. I chose the UAE girl instead as she set up a camp for labourers with her OWN money, and I hope this prize money goes to her so she can make a real difference, she is a the real arab woman who is inspiring.

Here are some of the comments made by Nouf about her country and here are the links on this forum!

She even used her power as manager in vodafone to get her a place in arabic newspapers to share her story and let people vote for her, this person has no morals and I hope we can spread the word and vote for someone who can use the money for a good cause.

Thank you.

@ BoSo nuff said!...& well put may i add!...

@ nomerci,a competition by it's very nature has a number of candidates that enter it,so what you're saying is simply by virtue of the fact that she entered, she deserves to win??? i asked a valid question i believe, what makes Nouf any MORE deserving than ANY other hardworking Qatari girl with achievements to show? & i think we can agree, this country has a fair number of them,if not a lot...btw,"luv" as opposed to "love"? it's a term to address a female acquaintance, like "buddy" or "mate" with a male acquaintance,in no way signifying "my" anything,so please no offence meant again...

By BoSo• 6 Apr 2010 23:45
BoSo

My thread's back so in joy, I kind of tried to put a cool-headed, fair analysis of my humble opinion on it.This thread has been awesome though. So many people, so many insights. I'm really into this discussion so I'm gonna bore you and repeat my analysis here too.

I think that all three stories are insiring in their own way and that all three of these women are doing something with their lives. Before I can look at them though, I need to look into myself. Ultimately, it's about the most "inspiring" story and I think maybe there have been so many heated opinions because different people are inspired by different things.

I've decided the kind of person I want to be, and so, without disrespect to any of the other finalists, I'm 100% daily voting for the woman who's spent years trying to make the lives of thousands of labourers better. There are a lot of kick-ass businesswoman out there, there are alot of people who've faced personal tragedy and overcome it but there are very few people who dedicate their lives to helping those less fortunate than themself. I find Saher's story inspiring and as that's the criteria, I'm voting for her.

oh geez gardarene. Just leave it be.

This girl is not a friend of mine. In fact, I do not even know her personally.

Sure, there may be people more worthy than her in Qatar. But it is Nouf, not the other people who entered this competition. KHALAS.

And one more thing, you can quote me anytime, but please , do stop to conclude things that I have never said or insinuated.

And please, I am not your "dear", "luv" or any of those things.

@ nomerci,i apologize for what you construed as an insult, that was not my intention,i enjoy reading your posts & do think you make a valid point most of the time, which is why i'm taken aback @ your attitude with this issue,it's as if either a)the young lady in question is a friend of yours or b) you just want to have an opinion that is the opposite of the majority here or both, either way that is your right...

My "outpouring" weather you like it or not is the reality of the situation here, having said that,i believe i've made it amply clear the immense respect i have for Qatari women that have truly left & continue to leave a mark on their society & country, three examples being the ones i stated in my earlier post...

So are you saying that she ought to be singled out amongst ALL of the other albeit handfull of Qatari girls who've chosen to work hard, just because they're not in the news & aren't finalists in this competition???...please,give me a break,i personally know a good few "Nouf Al Sulaitis",since she seems to be the benchmark for you, what about those other young Qatari women who've achieved what they wanted by working hard in a male dominated society? Then i would say the young Qatari helicopter pilot who flies my mate to his rig deserves it more than some lawyer wouldn't you say? i mean,it doesn't get more male dominated than THAT profession now does it? only difference is,apart from being featured in some local publication once, this young lady has shunned the limelight concentrating instead on becoming a better pilot & proving herself like that,do you believe she is anything but more deserving than Nouf?...As for my insight into Qatari life,my family has lived in the GCC for the past 3 generations,my grandmom is buried in one of those GCC countries & my family has been here in Qatar the past 18 years, please do not question my "insight" into Qatari life because i have a little bit more than just "an insight"...

Please don't get me wrong luv,i'm in no way questioning Nouf's ability or hard work, does she deserve to win this award based purely on that as if no other young Qatari woman puts in hard work or has the ability is my question?...Does Nouf's hard work & ability alone make her deserving of this award?...how is she any different from any other of the handfull of young Qatari women who have proven themselves in this society?...the only difference is her story is in the limelight because she comes from a less conservative family, that IMHO is hardly a factor that ought to qualify her to win this award...a lot of other posters have asked some very valid questions as well so really, let's focus on the issue here...

to john: Maybe you don't see the need to respect their home country but i do, i never said she shouldn't point out the problems, i said she can do it in a positive way. Instead of saying she wants to kill qataris and that qatar is like poo, and not a real country, she should point out the problems and offer ways to fix it. Any respectable person knows this.

to eve: nice joke! read the posts before you talk, already people proved it is her, and i already said i dont care abt what she did for herself, but more about what she said about qatar and qataris, and then LIE IN THE newspapers to get votes. Maybe for you being career oriented is being a liar and knocking down ur own people but then knocking their door when you need their support. Many qatari girls and women did much greater things in qatar and they DONT disrespect their country OK?? u understand?

to gadarene: Thank you, and you are right and an intelligent person, i have to tell the truth, i was gonna vote for nouf because my sister told me to, but when i did the search and saw what she posts, and read the stories, i had to go for emirati girl. And what you and Fubar said is 100% truth, go see the website for supreme education council, ANYBODY who is qatari can get a scholarship, nothing to do with her being more special than other qatari girls, but not only that, she comes here and bash the hell out of qataris and their culture and country, then needs them to vote for her as a representative of the country, very hypocritical, very shallow minded person.

to nomerci: Oh yes, expats have to vote cuz she supporting laborers? maybe because she is not ARROGANT and disrespectful of her home country, and care more about others than herself! do u understand these things or is nouf's freedom for qatar what you like? All she did was talk about how she got a scholarship (any qatari girl can do that if they do good in school), and how she was born a genius, yes i am sure many qatari girls need people like her for motivation, as gadrene said, go see what real female role models do! and even Saher is one of them, maybe for you it is not important the conditions of some poor asian, but to others it is. Maybe some qatari girls can relate with nouf better, and prefer the $10,000 go to new bags and shoes, but othersit help some poor people who can benefit. I understand why these girls dont care if nouf disrespects qatar, cuz their brain is all about money and appearance, not personality, dignity, and respecting the culture and the coutnry.

to king007: like u see brother, any of her posts u click is very rude and disrespecting qatari people, then in newspaper she wants us all to vote for her and her getting scholarships and working with qp, something most qataris can do because of qatarization program! greedy person, and only people on here who support her are also greedy and selfish because they only think of money, not her disrespect and not as north me said, who is better person to vote for.

oy vey gardarene. lol

I still, despite your outpouring of the inadequacies of Qatari girls, feel that she has done a lot , not only for herself, but also for those in a similar situation as hers. She has shown them that it CAN be done ,hard work is going to get you where you want to go, and that, IMHO, is very, very important. Furthermore, she will continue to show everybody that she is not some airhead, but a self made woman of substance, who can and will be successful in realizing her wishes and dreams.

Gardarene, I do not kow how long you have been here or how much insight you have into Qatari life, but let me tell you this, a lot of girls ,despite having the opprtunity, are not necessarily allowed to realize their potential.Still, they do what they can to get where they want to be. All is not as it looks.

@ Nomerci, this Nouf chick has done sweet F*^@%all for ANYONE here...the opportunities that were & are available to her were & are available to EVERY SINGLE QATARI GIRL,in fact, she comes from a well to do family, but even a Qatari girl who didn't/doesn't come from as affluent a background as hers can approach the Qatar Govt. if she so wants & the Govt. will fund 100% of her education ANYWHERE on the planet...so like i said, just because MOST Qatari chicks can't see beyond shopping(be it in Qatar or in London) & hitching a rich local guy & producing a brood, that DOES NOT MEAN that people like Nouf are DOING A LOT for local girls, that's just nonsense, there is NOTHING stopping a local girl from getting good grades in school, getting a law degree from the UK & coming back & working as a legal consultant for an international firm,so really, please save me the "she has done so much for local girls"...yes,there are women who that can be attributed to,H.H Sha. Moza,i don't think i need to elaborate on her achievements or Sha. Hanadi Nasser named "Woman CEO of the year" in '06, or being amongst the Financial Times 20 global Arab banking and finance sterling ladies role models in '08, or Dr.Hessa Al Jaber head of ICT Qatar, the woman who must be credited with breaking QTEL's monopoly & paving the way for a 2nd operator despite HUGE local opposition, now THAT is what ought to be labelled as well & truly inspiring, this Nouf chicks "500 agreements within a span of whatever time" for Vodafone sort of pales in comparison wouldn't you agree?...Saher Sheikh has done something for her FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS who're most in need, bringing up their nationality & that "all the expats will vote for you" just smacks of a VERY petty narrow mindset i'm verry sorry to say...

@ school looks,no worries mate,i'm with you on this one & it is 100% RELEVANT the comments this young lady has made about her country,be it yesterday or in 2007,that fact is IMMATERIAL,if she is the same person & may i add, school looks raised some valid points about how it definitely is the same person, the local community is currently too small in number & has too few people of this ilk for there to be TWO Nouf Al Sulaitis of the same age, working in the same company & in her line of work...recently,a Miss Universe contestant was stripped of her title for lying about her parentage, now you & me may feel that has no bearing on the competition but the fact remains that she lied & that reflects badly on her as well the organizers,SIMILARILY,this competition is about young acheievers having done something for their country/community,will those who think her comments are irrelevant kindly explain to me how a person that has criticized & belittled her country (even if it's 3 years ago) is eligible to win an award that recognizes one's achievements for country/community???...

I am much younger than her and my family raised me to respect my country and other peoples country and to be loyal to my home land. The people on here don't understand these things, they think i am jealous of the money, cuz they always think about the money. Allah blessed my family with more than enough money, so i have no need for this prize, even if i wanted it i cant get it because it is for women only! I hate to see a another qatari come on here and bash the nation very rudely, then lie on newspapers to win some competition. Where I want to go for uni is none of ur business, i didn't disrespect my country if i choose to study abroad, what does that have to do with this? i think u just wanna argue with me on here.

Smoke: brother if you read her posts she made on QL all of them show she is the same person, both say she is in legal, both say she worked in same company and she has the her age is same as the girl in the competition. There isn't many many qatari girls with the same age, full name and especially in her job. Plus older members also said they knew her and her brother on here, the guy who become a movie actor, talking about her posts on here. Look up the posts by nouf84 and see for urself what she thinks of qatar. In the newspapers and her story she also said things about herself that is matching on here, except there she made qatar seem like a great nation.

pogie2hh and soniya: thank your for understanding the real reason for this, most people on here obsessed with money they dont understand the idea of loyalty and respect, they think i am jealous of a competition for girls when i am a boy! their minds is always thinking about money, not respect and loyalty

Irrespective of whatever she said, the voting ought to be based on what each candidate has done for the betterment of their country & it's community & if one were to look @ it from that point of view,ANY individual that's doing something for the forgotten, poor, downtrodden labourers deserves our vote, because HARDLY ANYONE is doing ANYTHING significant for this lot despite them being the segment of society that is MOST in need...in comparison, looking after the legalities of setting up a 2nd telecom operator,in a country which already has one operator with in excess of 100% market penetration seems extremely incospicous & pales in comparison does it not?...nationality i say again,SHOULD NOT be an issue, just because we live in Qatar, that is NO REASON whatsoever to vote for an undeserving candidate just because she's Qatari, our vote should go to the candidate most deserving & that IMHO is Saher from the UAE,i mean just looking @ the 3 finalists photographs says a lot,a picture speaks a thousand words & all that,Saher's pic. is obviously a momentary one,a pic. taken WITHOUT studio lights & makeup & all that jazz,Ms. Nouf on the other hand looks a complete poser & reading their individual stories only confirms that...give your vote to the person who deserves it NOT because you want to vote for Nouf just because somebody said don't vote for her or simply because she's from Qatar or any other juvenile reason...because let's face it people,it would really take something for you or me to do what Saher has done for these poor labourers,an acheivement like that is worthy of recognition...

On the other hand he has no valid proof that the nouf on QL is the same as the one mentioned on that other link. I've read her story and found nothing GREAT in it either that requires her to win the competition.

He said he have a second thought going to QF and rather going to uni in OZ. I do think that QF provided very good facilities for the uni.

What I am trying to say ... if he really think Qatar is that good, he will study here and spend the university fees back to the country than bringing it abroad. Instead he dishing out others (in this case a qatari girl who speak her mind) who criticize Qatar.

He still havent answer some of the posters question ... (Oryx and Abu) what is he doing for the poor and dejected that you find it acceptable to dish it out on Nouf for not doing it?

Thank u boso for reading the message and understanding what I mean like a logicial person and I agree I also voted for uae chick because she is not a hypocrite and should inspire arab girls by her helping poor labourers. Noufs list of things she did is all about herself And her comments on here prove what kind of person she really is, a selfish person who care only about herself. I think some of the posters in here are friends with nouf and maybe that's why they wanna shut me up, maybe they r involved in ur thread disappearing and maybe will do the same to me, but I am not lying, I am only showing ppl words she said!

You start a hate thread and yes you were rude about expats.

You don't like the girl fine don't vote.

And you didn't answer my question - what have you done recently?

By School looks• 5 Apr 2010 23:18

well novita u didnt answer my question, would u vote for someone who calls ur country poo? almost all noufs post are disrespectful to qatar, and if she wanna have that opinion ok, but dont lie in the newspapers to get votes and fool the people, i almost voted for her But when i did a search on her name i found this site and saw her posts and what she said about qatar, it is her because it is the same age, job, and people on her mentioned her in this comp in another thread. i did not say anything racist about expatraits, i have a lot of family in gulf who live in qatar 2, makin them expatriats, does it mean i am racist to them? What i was trying to say is you people wont be as bothered by what she is saying as much because your not qataris, if i say disrespectful things about the usa then americans will be more upset about it than french people, this is common sense.

I'm no slagger.I 'm unbiased. I like knowing what makes people tick. Seriously though, forget past comments any of them have made in their interviews, etc., just read the three stories and make up your own mind....your own cool, logical, unbiased mind up. If we choose someone who's entire story is about themself and their (truly not!) tough life versus someone who's trying to change the lives of thousands of less fortunate people, then that says something worse about us than Nouf has ever said.

yeah yeah, something fishy going on here. That Qatari girl that you dont like so much owning this website. All the thread slagging her off will be deleted in no time.

Yeah Schoollooks, her comments didn't jive with me either. I'm not a local Qatari so I didn't take Nouf's comments very personally but I don't like hypocrites in any shape or form. What's she going to do with her 10,000 US anyway? Buy more Gucci bags? Atleast the UAE chick, Saher, is setting up a Scholarship Fund for labourers. Way to go chiquita!

But guys, any idea where my thread's disappeared? I started an intellectual, insightful thread on people and how we tick and using voting for Saher, Dina or Nouf as my case-study, and it's disappeared. No link leads to it! I think something fishy's going on here!

I agree with Novi

You need to look around at what expats do besides work here....

A lot of us run 'community groups' that benefit society here.

What have you done that is so wonderful to improve the quality of life?

@Oryx : It is a 'school looks' , need to look and see around more before throwing racism comments to expatriates.

nothing bugging me gnosis ... this is a free website open for everyone ... she / he posted I responded.

If she said something bad about Qatar, I personally think it is her prerogrative and her opinion. You dont like her then dont vote for her. If other wants to vote for her let it be.

If you think Expats don't care about Qatar then that is a racist statement.

Lots of expats do a lot of good in the community here.

How sure are you that it was her commenting that way? is the username verify & belongs to her?!
