Doha is better than Dubai

I am now fully convinced that Doha is much better place than Dubai. A recent change from Doha to Dubai and back to Doha has made me wiser. Daily spending 3 to 5 hours of your precious life driving is utter stupidity. Paying a country’s infrastructure development through Salik (road tax), parking fees and housing tax are nonsense as you will never be part of that country. You feel like a stupid when you need to pay for even cancellation of your family’s visa. May be Doha have lesser night clubs, no means for quenching your immoral thirst or lack the tallest building in the world but it’s were of no use to me. I love to be in Doha.

Despite that Doha is still in better shape in terms of traffic.......it is moving in Doha while you crawl on Dubai roads for hours during peak working hours.

I am with you kmbahamed.....

Doha needs improvement in

infrastructure (roads, street lights) and public transportation....

When you reach Qatar you changed your nationality, you were Emirati in Dubai??, We are also suffering traffic problem but not like Dubai. But soon Qatar will be worst than Dubai, believe or not it is true that every day about 500 new cars are registering in Traffic and all it coming to Qatar roads. Just bring a letter from company your car is at home.

Doha is defenitely better choice against dubai, yet doha has to improve in infrastructure and public transportation.

Qatar Government is generous by not blocking VOIP,also it has allowed a private telecom, not giving unreasonable fines and many other things

Hello,

After Living in Dubai for 12 years, I recently moved to Doha. Initially I was a bit reluctant to come here but after arriving here I have realised that I probably took the best decision of my life.

Life in Dubai - it sucks hard. Endless number of hours spent in traffic, not to mention difficulties in finding parking off course if you are lucky to reach your destination in one piece thanks to the madness which people show while driving on dubai roads.

Never knew life could be so stress free also, reaching office in 15 minutes, not having to wait for taxis for hours is truly a luxury.

Dubai used to be a good place once but not anymore.

due to Allah's house been situated in Mecca and Medina; Looking from a global point of view (macro level) where all communities can live with their own lifestyles (dubai/doha is best, safe havens for all).

May be Riyadh (being cosmopolitan & capital city) a better place to stay and it is better than Doha but again only for muslims due to several restrictions only on Expat population (Except for Americans - ARAMCO).

Hard-work of millions give benefits to a few Royal families (Saud - Watch Forbes list of all richest from Royal family).

Dubai Vs Doha has pros and Cons depending on ones lifestyle, standard of living and priorities in Life.

I could count at least hundred good and bad in both the cities.

Dubai is not a place to stay if you want a relaxed and laid-back kind of lifestyle.

I agree with all the traffic and stuff, but it depends on where you live and work. But then again, have you seen Salwa Road on a busy day?

Dont get me wrong, I like Doha, but I don't love it.

-PS. Please dont tell the Immigration Dept.

in few days now i will be living in Qatar...in dubai the cost of living now is high, garbage you can see everywhere, salik (toll fee) in which it didn't help to lessen the traffic and as usual transportation is very hard...with all the good comments i've read about Qatar i know i wont regret exchanging Dubai to Qatar...I hope Qatar government will maintain all these positive better living not only for Qataris but also for expats..

I was planning on working in Dubai but landed up here. Good thing I didn't have much time to think too or I would've changed my mind (as in I would have chickened out). But, as they say, windows of opportunities can open anywhere but won't stay open for long. Researched company, applied for the job, went for interview and got it. Bosses must have thought I was crazy. Now looking around me and at Dubai, Qatar suits me better...and so many new things to learn. Very challenging ... but fun! :0)

I also agree that Doha is better than Dubai. Maybe you can get more night life in Dubai, but otherside you loose your hardly earned savings. But here in Qatar you can enjoy ur life with a limit. I think that is enough.

Paying Salik (road tax), parking fees and housing tax...etc is crazy!!!

There are even stories about how people have to drive around for 3-4 hours to find a parking place....and then pay parking fees on top of that.

i agree wid u coz Dubai is an open port were we can see everything openly and prostitutes are in every streets,so compared to Dubai Qatar is far far better and hope Allah keeps Qatar going like this. Moreover I have heard that in Dubai there are less savings coz the houses are very expensive but in Doha we can atleast save our earnings in one or the other way.
