you will mostly observe that you get shock only when you are getting out of the car and not getting in. Its because when the car is moving, static charge builds up in the cars body due to friction with air particles. Since rubber tires are non conductors, this charge doesn't travel to earth.

I have gone through all the thread and found most of the thread hear  is because of car - touch at closing time ...... even this happen to me almost all the time .

New car doest not have this problem , for example  last year i brought a car from showroom June 07  it was perfect after three month i met with an accident i have given to nissan company for the repair , they replaced the new fender / dicky - later i found that i get shock while closed the door , i made a complete to them for that they told that is because of using mobile phone . i told him this is not the first time i am using the phone for that he told me no no not like that once we repair the metal  linked to mobile waves .

so make sure one car damage or done repair this will happen

I got this static shock only in Doha everytime coming out of the car, so have checked and was told of its dry climate and that my body lack water, the more dry a person is the more easily he or she will get the static shock.

Yes, I do it all the time. I sometime close the door of the car by using the inside handle.

I'm the senior member of the CLUB because i get frequent shocks. 

1. Opening my car.

2. When someone comes near me.

3. Opening any doors with metal handle.

Everyone looks at me odd, the way how i open my own car at night, they think im trying to steal it. The way how im trying to open restaurent doors. hahaha. I tried to ask doctors, they cant help much...

I get static shock too. Sometimes when I lock the car, sparks fly. I always get down carefully without touching anything and close the car door only using the plastic handle.

Everytime i get out of my car i try to close the door without touching the metal part coz most of the time i get a shock if i touch the metal part.

 Aparently it happens a lot with new cars i have heard but for me it happens a lot even though the car is not new...

same here...i get out of my car.... and thats it..anything i touch i get the shock..... some times i close the door by pushing the window... Glass i dnt get shock.. but you have to see me shaking hands with some one immedietly after getting down the car... the guy goes wtf :) hehe

it happened to me a couple of times when i get down of my car.. or i touch someone.. escalators.. lol... i know its static charge.. so never bothered to think much about it...

Its coz you get charged up very soon....

Electro static discharge (ESD) ...when you walk , / run/ or any activity ..ur body get charged and it tries to discharge them when you have a contact with another conducting medium...

its quite often and natural...

And why others dont feel it ....may b coz..your style of walking/doing the things are different as compared to them...

for eg..a person who takes long steps get less charged as compared to a person who take short steps...

I guess its something to do with metal or aluminium object but my DH? Not sure...

People always give me strange looks as I get out of my car and close the door and jerk like a jerk ! Little do they know that I get "shocked" every time I touch my car after I get out of it. Never when I get into the car though.
