Yes. It's not about the external circumstances but internal. Nothing is impossible. Time, effort, patience, perseverance and positive thinking - things will always improve. It has been fun!

@ 220v - I already gave you my reasons why I couldn't make friends here. You wouldn't expect strangers walking up to you in a mall and saying they want to be ur friend. Do you?

M going back to India for 15days and yes I keep myself busy by watching movies, TV series like prison break n FRIENDS, but even sitting 24X7 in front of the lappy is pain in ASS.

M planning to join a Gym, but it would be after ramadan and may be join some club for swimming and hope to find some new people.

@ drywood - Qatar is really great, no other place on earth is like Qatar. M sure not even Antarctica.

@ Jaryz - I appreciate your advice.

okaay , I guess Friends Is what you r lookng for ,, if u haven't found any in 5 months ,, maybe nobody wants to be friends with u. it's ok,, life is a process that changes with time.

abt makin money,, I need not worry abt chasing them,, it's just an art/hobby that keeps me busy apart from looking for friends and complan.

U need a vacation maybe. or u can leave foe the rest of ur life if Doha is sooo boring.

peace.

i do understand your predicament and those young people out there... i even have a friend who is experiencing what you are experiencing right now, for 2 years he tried his best to stay sane...for now his life is work and mostly his time is just watching his collections of dvds in his room, well he got used to his life as he told me...good for him though.......

THIS IS DOHA & IF YOU COULD MAKE IT FOR ANOTHER 3 YEARS HERE....wish you the best of luck ;)

And to answer your question.... Sometimes yes, most of the times no,I don't enjoy that much here but I always tell to myself the reason why I am here in the first place is to work, work, work and make the best out of it....

@ 220v - I'm just an ordinary guy, who wants to be with some friends and i believe that it doesn't have to be a picnic spot, club etc etc to have fun. The moment you are with ur friends you start having fun and enjoy urself.

I agree that Doha is a nice place to make money (I don't know the ways to make black money here, may be you can teach me ;-} ), but life isn't about making money and saving it for a rainy day.. who knows there might not be a single rainy day in ur life.

@ Veena - I don't know what have you liked in Doha... may be you didn't have an active social life back in India and that's the reason you are satisfied with whateva comes your way. I took the liberty to check ur profile and found that your a housewife, so I guess I got my answer.

@ alexa - I'm glad that people understand me here, but its too hard to stay quiet for 3 years and search for friends on QL or outside. 3 years from now, I'll be 25 and would feel as if I've wasted 3 years of my life exploring a country to find new friends. I hope you understand me again ;-}

very typical to get bored in Doha indeed,, it happens to anyone new to any country,, ofcourse doha is one of the quitest and small city. even I get so bored sometimes,, facing the same faces and places in a week.. part that's again depending on the knda lifestyle ,,

try joining gym ,, u know it does help cleanse mentally and physicaly.

these days I am not hanging out much, waitng until Ramadan gets over and getting my hand over my new ride by then,,,

so what kind of person are u like,, found of picnics, sheeshas, clubs, night clubs, coffee spot addict, sporty, party starter,,,

maybe all toghether,,

just needs a plan with an organization,, sometyms more fun doing things without plans,,suprise suprise,,,

inshallah few more days and the gud days will be back again ;)

"making money Is the smartest thing to do in Doha "

depends if it's black or white again,, but returns are worth the risks again,, just have to enjoy doing wat u do.

peace

I would agree with you.. This is not a place for you if you are in your late teens..

This is an age to explore, take risks and learn. This cannot be done in Qatar..

Whoeva has said that, I totally agree with that person... there isn't anything for anybody here... if you speak of kids (8-12) they are like prisoners at home... NO OUTDOOR GAMES... for the youngsters there isn't any place to socialize(except the shopping malls, which I think are good only for shopping) and if you people think sitting at home and making friends on QL is a great idea, then I must say you people have mistaken. If all you wanted to do is sit at home and make friends online then this can be done from any part of the world.

You come to a new country and you expect to make new friends (not only online), but here it is just impossible to make any friends outside your workplace ( And at work you find all the phillipino's, who already have their entire circle of family and friends, phill ofcourse), no offense but I really don't understand their english.

I'm 22yrs old and this is my 5th month in Doha and I really don't like it here, cos i've not made any friends here, at my work place almost everyone is 28+ and married, so there is no chance to meet them outside working hours as they have to spend time with their families. I'm bored to death here.

I'm sure by now everyone might have understood that m totally pissed and hate this place. I hope to make new friends here in the age group of 20-25 and would like to hang out with them (Ofcourse not on the net). So anyone who is interested in making friends with me can PM me. I'm sorry if i look a bit rude or harsh, but m really pissed here and I thought this is place where I can express my feelings.

I am enjoying living a forced bachelor life...

Things which help you enjoy may differ from place to place, but then you need to find the right combination to keep you going happily and peacefully...

If you need others to set up an interesting life for you, Qatar is not the place to be. If you enjoy a challenge and making yourself or something, there are few places better. MD said it very well, if you ain't happy here you'll find it hard elsewhere too. In an of itself, little is missing here... Culturally yes, this place isn't very developed... But it's up to you to organize or find people of similar interests and pursue "extracurricular activities" as they'd call 'em in college.
