Do animals have extrasensory perception

I've heard that birds and animals sense when an earthquake or a tornado is on it's way, but what about our household pets, the doggie and kitty, maybe even the hamster or guinea pig, mouse?

Did anyone read about this cat in a nursing home in the US ..? A lot of people called into radio and TV stations in the UK today to say they had similar experiences with their pets.

Do you have a psychic budgie?

at my brother inlaw when he's about to have an attack. He gets these massive nosebleeds that end up hospitalizing him. They can tell when its going to happen by the dog and her reactions. She does it withing a day of the attack. Its just plain weird...

i think some animals do, but that is not to say that this is an example of it.

the smartest type of parrot is a grey african parrot (i think that's what it's called). i saw something a month ago about a woman in the US who had one. this bird had a vocabulary of over 1000 words, and actually spoke with the owner telling it what it wanted, expressing itselt, etc.

this bird had psychic abilities. they put the owner in one room and put the bird at the opposite end of the house in another room. the owner would look at pictures and the bird, in a different room, would say what the owner was seeing. the bird correctly said what the owner was looking at approx 35% of the time, far too much for it to be random luck. in some cases the owner would look at the picture, and the parrot would guess the picture, as just as the owner would notice some small detail, the bird would start talking about that. this bird was amazing.

so, some animals are psychis. but i think in many cases it is their heightened sense of smell and hearing. many animals flee hours before tsunamis and earquakes hit, but some scientist believe this has to do with subsonic frequencies that humans can't pick up on. they know now that many anicals communicate using subsonice frequencies - elephants can hear another elephant over 5 miles away using these low frequencies. girafes do it aswell. tigers have subsonic sounds in their roars that momentarily paralyze their prey.

there are dogs that can sense when their owners are about to have an epileptic seizure. this probably has something to do with smelling a change in hormones/chemicals in their owners. if i was betting money, i would say the cat smelled something in these people.

I think I believe it also, even though I haven't had a personal experience of it.

I hope more people will add to this thread with any stories they have.

I have to log off now because I have lots to do, but will come back and take a look tomorrow to see what people have had to say.

xx

Jauntie, yes animals are incredibly sensitive. One day before my departure from my home country, my cat would keep licking my face and not wanting to leave me. Right on the same flight day, she also made very strange noise!! After I left home for travel, I was told, for almost two days, she would not come out of her hide (somewhere at the apartment) and would not eat at all!

Jauntie,

I remember once I read that cats have the power of healing with their "purring". Like when a cat is dying or in a great pain, he will start to purr in an attempt to heal his injuries, which may seem like a contradiction, as they also do so when they are pleased...

I can´t remember very well, but it has to do with the sound vibrations. Wish I remember where I read it, cos it was a really interesting article. It also talked about cats that have been able to cure some cancers in humans.

That´s why it is said that cats have seven lifes. It has been proved that when they break a bone, it heals by itself within few days.

Anyways, call me naive, but I do believe that the story about the cat in US nursery for elders its actually true. And I´m pretty sure that there is some scientific reason for it.
