D'men really need a car t'get himself a girl?

heero_yuy2
By heero_yuy2

Specially in this place?

If a guy sets his goals straight from back home he aint gonna be willing to sacrifice a car rent or loan if it doesn't fit on his budget or salary measures, and there're a lot of young'uns around here in that kind of situations.

But in such occurences a guy would be willing to meet a newly-found girl and may come to feel that she may be dependent in taking her anywhere on a date or just a back-and-forth ride to her office and home but couldn't because it's not on his proper budget.

What comes to mind is do women around here rely more on men who has his own personal transportation or is it just that men felt that they can get a girl even more by having to get himself a car of his own?

Or can a guy still can win a girl without one?

Or how's about if the girl has a car and the guy doesn't? Will it get more complicated or difficult?

God with all these car mentalities on relationships. ;-p

Xena said "but seriously, personally, I feel that as a modern woman, working for my own money, having my own car and paying my own way - the least someone I date or go out with, should be able to match me in what I have"

- As in IQ and EQ. Material things are irrelevant.

Heero - "If a guy sets his goals straight from back home he aint gonna be willing to sacrifice a car rent or loan if it doesn't fit on his budget or salary measures"

- Correct. And so he shouldn't lose focus on his long term goals.

"What comes to mind is do women around here rely more on men who has his own personal transportation"

- No

Or can a guy still can win a girl without one?

- Yes.

"Or how's about if the girl has a car and the guy doesn't? Will it get more complicated or difficult?"

- No.

Having to drive such types of transportations (train, taxi, bus, rickshaw), its the woman who pays you rather than you pay the woman. LOL

Having own car doesn't makes anyone's superior to the others. But it adds our confident to be more independent from our man. Every individual has their own assets be it materials and/or personality (car is just one). The latter values more, at least mine's opinion. In a man-woman relationship, it is the love and their chemistry that counts.

Seems your having an inferiority complex? :P

Better yet, he sends his car and driver to pick me up (LOL) provided I know the driver and he looks like Daniel Craig (James Bond).

...

Now seriously, if a city has good public transportation, public transport saves on the difficulties of traffic and parking. However, since many points in Doha are far apart, if you want convenience, you must have a car. Now, let's turn the tables around and reverse roles. Pretend it is the lady asking you out for a casual picnic at the Corniche. On our imaginary casual date, the lady shows up to retrieve you for a date and is driving a Rhoades car. She says: Dress comfy, we lunching at the Cornische and I will need your help. Will you think less of her than if she retrieves you in her Mercedes or BMW? By the way, she has no Mercedes or BMW. And she is not the type of girl that requires a foot pump to operate (cute comment, BritExpat) See link: http://www.rhoadescar.com/jumpshow.htm How many of you guys would willingly participate if she drove a Rhoades instead of a BMW or Mercedes? (LOL) All things being equal, she is attractive, witty, and fun to be with.

well your husband is a 'lucky' man. Thank goodness he took you off the market.

So your answers to my thoughtful questions are 'I'll ask my hubby if that happened'.

Well that's an excellent way to facilitate the conversation.

Now I see undertones of you thinking 'i've been there, done it all, so I know everything'. The pragmatics of all your posts on here suddenly make sense to me.

'I have all the right things in my life, so my advice is better than anyone elses'.

The subject about makeup and ambitions is completely relevant. It portrays a cross-section of women who are influenced by movie culture of needing to look perfect every second of the day.

Real life isn't like that.

And don't twist my command on the English language.

'one night' didn't mean a one night stand.

If you are going to post on a thread talking about hypothetical dating, then you have to put your mind into a single state where the END RESULT of a first, second, thrid date is to get where you have gotten in life with your husband, therefore 'hot and sweaty'.

Maybe all the years of married bliss have made you forget the exhileration, adrenaline, and spontaneous nature of a first date.

To have a woman say 'you don't have a car' would deflate a guy, and set the wrong tone for the evening.

Comprende?

YOUNG MAN.. been there, thru that ....whatever...

am a happily MARRIED old woman of 3 lovely wonderful kids with me dear and WOW.. we tried to go out and waited for TAXI for almost 45 minits...IMAGINE US SWIMMIN WITH OUR OWN SWEATS...AND I DONT GO FOR ONE NIGHT only with my husband...I DO GO WITH him EVERY NIGHT FOR FOREVER ;)

If a guy says to you, EVEN if he has a car, 'i want to take you to the desert at night, with a blanket and just you and I, for a romantic picnic and watch the stars shining in the sky' you're going to say 'sorry, I am staying in the air conditioned car rather than getting out and enjoying the moment. Sweat? Yuck'.

LOOOLLLLLsss... if somebody will ask me, I'll ask permission with my hubby....

AND YOUNG MAN take note.....we are talking here of a case to case basis.....

QOUTE/UNQUOTE by YOU YOUNG MAN: surely the ambition is to find someone you wake up beside, without their makeup on thinking 'wow, she is beautiful'.

You take care of the one you love when they are ill, when they are down and depressed....so why all the false pretences?....WHAT's this subject got to do with these assumptions????????????????

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THESE or wanting this kind of relationship..THEN YOU ONLY DONT NEED CAR...you needed more than CAR....but A VERY BIG HEART....MATURE MIND...and a lot more....

um....not to put too fine a point on it, but you're avoiding sweating and getting hot flushes so that....you can have an excellent date, and eventually one night.. go back to the guys place....and get hot and sweaty in a suggestive way!

any man worth their salt finds the woman he loves attractive in any situation.

surely the ambition is to find someone you wake up beside, without their makeup on thinking 'wow, she is beautiful'.

You take care of the one you love when they are ill, when they are down and depressed....so why all the false pretences?

We live in Qatar. It is hot. That is part and parcel of where we are.

So, just the cinema for your dates then.

You are more of a joke than us women...

how is that,

1st...u r generalizing WOMEN....why have you met all the women of Doha and all they require is only CARS in men???

CAR here in Doha my dear is not for GIRLFRIENDs requirements(although again it is an added points) BUT IT IS A NECESSITY in general to all pipol MEN/WOMEN alike....

AND we are not putting any pressures in any man nor friends are pressuring us in dating any man without car whatsoever....

WE WOMEN make sure ARE ALWAYS making it work (NOT ONLY PUT EFFORTS) in any relationship we are into not only as friends, lovers but also for family....

MAYBE..just MAYBE...you are not saying "GET A TAXI & I'LL MEET YOU THERE".... BUT the fact that YOU WERE DATING A LADY and let you two go out there waiting for a taxi in a sweltering heat of the sun and added humidity...by the time you get that so called taxi or karwa..im 100% sure you are both swimming with your own sweat.......

you women are a joke.

generally all these lonely hearts are moaning about how they 'cannot find Mr Right' and it turns out one of the 'attributes' he HAS to have is owning a car.

you want to find the love of your life, but expect the person to literally walk up to your door to find true love.

well.

I think that any woman who puts pressure on a guy about material objects isn't worth dating anyway.

the fact that you would overlook someone paying for a taxi, in a country where petrol is dirt cheap (so it actually takes MORE effort to collect you in a taxi)means you would look down on them?

if your friends give you pressure for dating a guy without a car, then you need some new friends too.

it's interesting.

women want equality in the relationship....but don't want to put equal effort into making it work.

I am NOT saying 'get a taxi and i'll meet you there'.

It's just the audacity that you could miss out on a genuinely good guy based on your own shallow idiocy about 'not wanting to sweat'

ít's not being materialistic or something. in this country with its scorching heat and humid weather, having a car is a necessity. and karwa is not always available mind you. you will be sweating out before you even go to your date waiting for this karwa. but come on heero you don't have to impress a girl by getting a ferrari... it can yeah but can you afford it? there are a lot of nice and affordable cars around. and a girl will love you more by being your real self and not a pretentious one.

There's Karwa, there's carlift, there's Karwa Bus. Going places thru public transport is also exciting. At least that is for me. It's like both of you are enjoying the scenery together at the same time without being too secluded and close for comfort. A public transport is a neutral place. Plus, the adventure and laughs that you share while you stand under the heat or shivering in the cold waiting for the transport can also become part of the joy as you get to know each other.

Love is not based of material things at all, in other way car here in Doha is very important! But if woman based the relationship on having a car to pass her standards, I don’t agreed at all! It means she is on more material things than having a man who can give her more than a car! It’s just answering a question “Do I have to be Good-looking to get a man?”

What comes to mind is do women around here rely more on men who has his own personal transportation or is it just that men felt that they can get a girl even more by having to get himself a car of his own?

NOT ALL WOMEN RELY ON MORE ON MEN WITH CAR... I can go by myself anywhere i want to go since there are KARWA or call private taxi that you have contact before....

Or can a guy still can win a girl without one??

possibly NO!!! Gudness, you want to win the girl and ask her for a date and tell her can we just meet somewhere coz i dont have a car?? or could we just take taxi????WOW in these heat???? NO THANK YOU!!!!

Anyway, this is my own opinion only.... we are not that materialistic but we are not stupid also to meet up somewhere for a date and take karwa by ouselves to meet the guy....I'D RATHER STAY HOME AND WATCH TV....

so heero, if i were you...start to ask for the price f a new CAR ;)
