Difference in Grand Joud Cafe

Sunshine5580
By Sunshine5580

Have you ever experienced biased behaviour by the staff when you go into the Grand Joud Cafe near Centre.
This is what happens around there: depending on your nationality they give you the nice and sweet treatment that you deserve. They make their own rules and which is not known to many. There is even difference btw the treatment u receive btw the ground floor and the top floor. It seems you cannot go in and just have sheesha in the ground floor , but its ok on the first floor. N the best thing is their rules change according to your nationality. So if u want to be treated good with respect either try to go to the first floor or dont go there at all.

The rule shud be for everyone (tht u cannot go in only for sheesha), shud be displayed sumwhere like Ras al Nassa, where a minimum charge is applicable or Al Kher.

its a shame that some of the staff behave rudely in this way n change rules according to them. the place is very good for sheesha as well as the food is very good.

Have u experienced the same.? Lets make it clear tht this doesnt happen to everyone over there, but only to those who seem to be of a different nationality n done by a few of the staff there.

With pretty much everything Sunshine5580 said.. My brother's been there with friends of different ethnicities and received different treatment from the chief staff accordingly. Another incident (a negative one) with Grand Joud was when they charged my friend and I for a Grand Shisha, even though I did not request one. Their reply to my query for being overcharged was... "Ah, yes... this is the price."

I'm taking Arabic classes, to converse with the 'sole' Arabic speakers, but I don't think I'll be going to Grand Joud to try it out. They're not crying over the loss of presence and I sure as He** ain't cryin' over them! Just venting!!

This is probably a bit late.. but the treatment there varies from waiter to waiter and you do not have to be arabic speaking in order to get a different treatment.. i have been there several times and it is as if the waiters are PMSing (no offense ment) and are either rude or take forever to get what you order and so on.. Whether it is the head waiters (who are arabic speaking) or the foreign waiters that serve the meals.. I find them all rude and obnoxious..

The reason for difference in treatment between up and down is the fact that it is more crowded up usually but I have never faced a problem of having to order something to eat.. on many occasions it is just sheesha and a drink (coffee, tea, juice, whatever)

and Darude i tried being rude back.. honestly.. it doesnt even make you feel better it gets you even more pissed off because the waiters have the gall to get even ruder.

regarding Garveys. I was shocked when I arrived here and some of my white friends invited me for a drink at Garveys. I said yes but when I heard them say it is a white only placebut since I would be going along with them it would be OK.

Yet to find a decent Sheesha place in Doha, I have tried the one on the Cornishe near fishing boats, and the one in the Old souqs, Do any of you QL are frequent visitors to this Garhood place, I would love some company.. PM me if any one is volunteering to take me along to this place..

Good morning all,

Last time I went to the above mentioned place was more than 2.5 years ago, and I never went again, and this is what happened:

Regardless the bad service, I asked for the bill at the end, and I gave the waitress my AMEX card, she came back saying it was declined, then I gave her my VISA card, and I asked her politely to charge it on this card, and get me the confirmation ticket that the AMEX transaction was declined so I can show it to AMEX office and solve the problem, because that paper has a reference number for the error.

She turned red face, and thought that I don't trust her, and she gave me sh*t, real sh*t I did not say anything, and I was just smiling as usual, but her boss noticed that, and he came to me, I asked him not do do anything with her or fire her, because she must be tired since it was almost 01:00 AM, I told him it's allright, and then he explained that no paper came out of the machine, I paid with the other card, and left, and never went back there again, there are a plenty of other places where I can smoke shiha nicley without any disturbance, so it's not the only place, and just as someone said; ignorance is a bless, and they are just loosing custoers day after day.

Just wanted to share this.

Cheers

:D

U know, I love pissing these people off, this other time, I made them wait for 2 hours before i ordered, just to see what happens and my friends and i were laughing our head off just by looking at their faces, thats the best part. What you can do is start scribbling on the table and stick a chewing gum under the table, since its glass, they can see it clearly and get even more pissed off lol. What will they do kick u out??? well there's ur chance of picking a fight with them... show them what u r made of ;).
