what ahmad said. is very very true... so he has listed all the real factors for this hype... first one to blame is some real estate owners.. who caused this pesudo demand, and had a good fortune. and we are the prey...

Its a supply-demand issue, the rents are high because:

1-Many ex-pats coming in to qatar and not enough suitable housing options, so the few availaible will go for a high price.

2-Cement price went up 400-500% and the cement company cannot produce enough to meet the construction needs.

3-Construction company crooks took the cement excuse to raise the construction prices by more than double in the last year alone!

4-Real estate owners are aware of x-pats who are offered paid housing by larger companies and they know they can drain the large companies of expensive rent cause these companies need the x-pats to work for them.

5-Websites and newpaper adds are available but not so effective at describing real-estate niether are they effective in attracting customers as much as middle-man agencies! And these middle man agencies which are popping up everywhere want to make their cut of the expensive rent also by making it more expensive.

6-All independent businessmen have caught the extreme-greed plague!

7-Asian Games has nothing to do with rent but it made a wonderful excuse to raise rents and if anyone asks hey its so expensive then just cover your ears and shout ASIAN GAMES!!

8-Now that Qatar wants olympic games in 2015 or so then you can expect everything to go up even more and if you ask why then wait a sec...let me cover my ears.....OLYMPIC GAMES!!!

Give it time. The games have only just finished.

Personally I don't think they will drop. If they do, it won't be by much and it won't last
