the-birdie, magazine censorship has loosened up a lot. I haven't seen any blacked-out pages in years.

I bought a copy of Women's Health here. Never would have seen this a few years ago. On the cover is a girl in a bikini top and shorts (with abs to die for).

Inside, there are plenty of pics that include shoulders, thighs, midriffs, etc. that would once have been blacked out.

Actually, in previous years the magazine probably wouldn't have even been allowed into the country. One of the feature stories is "Best in Bed 2008", which is all about various, uh...shall we say, accessories ....including photos.

To be perfectly honest , I find many of the comments here very hypocritical.

I recall being in India and the English films were "re titled" and many scenes cut by the censor. The same thing occurred in Vietname.

The fact is that many countries / cultures do this. As nations / societies develop, they learn and the cencorship changes.

America now censors the showing the arrival of the bodies of fallen soldiers. Should we be angry at that..

There are calls in the UK for more censorship as violence is blamed on films.

There's a whole world of topics out there. Qatar or Middle East bashing is too easy to do..

i personally dont enjoy s** scenes at all!!!

It surprises me how Showtime re-show movies from the night before during the day, so you can get full frontal nudity at midday. You don't get that on the BBC!

They cut Popeye kissing Olive and censored "The Simpsons" but only the evening show. They had shown the uncut version at lunch time.

At least the Atlas shows Israel now and not just a black blob!

The prob is always the same, the more conservative is society the bigger is the number of internauts searching for "sex".

I don't think it's a "rude" part of the world. It's just that they take advantage of everything that is offered from a "rude" world. Who can blame them?

The censorship at the movies is very less nowadays. Previously, international movies were distributed by a Kuwaiti company.Which does the "cutting" them selves & distribute it to other GCC countries.

Anyways, it's not the censorship that ruins movies here.

You reminded me of that movie Charlotte's Web last 2 years ago. They did 'blacken' the pig part in several displayed posters in Qatar cinema billboards. I wonder how many scenes were cut in cinemas since the movie is all about the pig herself.

They also did that with maps we ordered for geography lessons. Israel was blacked out on every map!

I know they did with Winnie the Pooh books that came from Saudi - they drew a black line over every piglet image and sold them in book shops.
