Customer service where is it?
I have heard a lot about customer service in qatar, but now seing for myself. Where is it ? With the eyes of the world now upon this country surely that has change. The taxi drivers are straight faced and not friendly. Went into a phone shop something tel (cantremember the name), came out perplexed sim card thrown on counter and i had to ask how do i pay the bill every month. Im none the wiser for asking by the way. Yesterday in a supermarket called something four (for the life of me cant remember the name) at cashier throwing the shopping one hit my finger i didnt say anything but lets just say that wont be happening again. Definitely not caredfour there! Check out at another supermarket my girls just about to get served and this guy comes from end of the checkout and pushed in waving his hand to say ive only got a few things. That wont be happening again. Maybe its some business' and some industries im not sure. Maybe some training in customer relations is needed. Let us know your incidents and your thoughts. The world cup is upon us yes it maybe 10 yrs away but really its not infrastructures need to be in place at least three years before. To put on a good show a smile and be courteous is important or else lose customers and business.
And seems odd that bensons comments are deleted......
It's the wannabees who always say "if you dont like leave"
The guys who pack the bags are brilliant and always have smile on their face. Please guys im just saying customer service that is not good any where in the world would be frowned upon dont turn this into a "get out of our country" debate. Not everything in anyone country is perfect but there is always room for improvement. Some western countries are at fore front of technology and have the best training yet some of the people have poor customer service. Im just saying that i see a real lack of it so far. from the taxi drivers (not all as i have not met all) to the person working at a major telecommunications firm to persons on till. If i came on here and said qatar in all its wonders that everything is perfect, then im afraid then im sure you would see a lot more replies than the ones to this post. Lets all get along and not turn it into "leave this country alone" rhetoric. Smile
Hello.
Could you please email us the full story about what you dislike about the customer service in Qatar. Or the situation that happened to you on private message.
And from their, we will publish your story to make everyone read it on forum website.
Kind Regards,
It helps if and when sales staff know what actually is in their shop...most don't. They do mile though.:)
improve if people continuously fight for it.
Exactly, I know that the companies that are Western owned around the world do just that. They teach their staff customer service, and hire people like me from HR background to do the training and development for the staff. IKEA is here in Qatar and will open soon, do you know before they open in other countries outside of let's say U.K or U.S.A they have to teach customer service a few weeks longer? Amazingly true. Ask yourself why?
So no matter where in the world you are, a simple smile starts the warm feeling that makes a shopping experience a nice one for yourself, and the clerk doing his/her job. Feeling appreciated works both ways. The clerks here do not get paid or appreciated enough if at all. So it starts with you and me. Remember to treat others how you yourself would want to be treated.
Salam
I would also like to add that the staff who pack groceries at all the places I mentioned above are really good, friendly, they pack carefully with common sense and are so fast at it too. Real good job everytime, everyone of them.
Always get service with a smile from staff & cashiers at Spinneys (and other places in The Mall), very helpful staff from Carrefour at Mesaimeer Rd (if they see you have 2 trolleys full of stuff they always help take them out to the car for you, even their cleaning staff come to ask if you need help) and staff at Megamart are especially friendly and very considerate (friendly and good service from cashiers, even their security guards help out sometimes). Staff at these places are always happy to explain, provide a recipe, let me know what promotions are on and advise when is the next shipment of whatever I was looking for etc. I would say that is good customer service and all with a smile to boot.
Haha wananbees never ever resort to name calling always sort out the issues at hand. Im sure thats what children are taught. Hahaha wannacees wannadees wannaeees wannaffffs wannaggggs
Just wanted to comment here. Customer Service can and will only improve if people continuously fight for better Customer Service. Instead of silently suffering the indignities given to you by the Cashier, staff or even other customers, its your right and privilege to complain. So people in the higher ups can see the issue and try to resolve it. If they do not, then go to other companies.
However, when we're talking about companies that has a monopoly on that particular service, then you can do nothing but just come to me and cry on my shoulder..... there...there....
Palmer I am sorry, welcome to QATAR......!!
I was asking the same thing whenever I was in Arab countries, especially HERE but then again, we are not in our country, where customer service is taught, re-taught, and taught again at our work. In fact, lol... I was hired at a hotel here a few months back, as a Training & Development Specialist to teach the staff customer service..... and how to develop Customers and keep them....but lol the Management, (i will not say what arab nationality they all are,) but as a manager, it was to painful, and emotional, and hurtful for me to sit in a daily 8am brief with these "men" trying to talk about our daily action plan, and briefs about what needs done in each dept so that the hotel & staff runs smoothly. These "men" just know how to bark like dogs running in circles, and never listen to each other to solve the problems on hand, it becomes a personal thing between them whenever a topic came up that needs solution. I had to resign after 3 weeks, i went to a Medical Clinic with swelling of my legs for 4 days and was told my bp was dangerously high... I simply can not teach western ways (customer service) in Qatar atleast, to these "people" who say they want to learn how to give 5* service and act professionally, but instead start yelling and screaming and interupting each other, then one will get angry and walk out right in the middle of a meeting...... there is not much to say about this Palmer, I do know that I have seen in some American or Brit owned restaurants and shops, you will find very poliet staff from Asian's. Customer Service is a thing of the past I guess. :(
Go straight, first cabin on your left.. Good luck !!
Benson said: "iam sure you have come to Qatar to pick the negative points of this country".
I am sure Benson is not a mind-reader.
Absolute right LP. Wannabee is the best way to describe it.
To the OP: Customer services varies, and businesses with good customer service are always busy. Word-of-mouth is the best way to find these places.
Benson no need for that pick negatives hahaha from what your saying it they are positives. Go back to my own country ive never owned a country so not sure what to do about that one. Dont miss the point by saying such things. Everything has a negative and a positive. I would say the same if it happened elsewhere. I am stating a fact that with the country now on the world map, things like customer service will enhance the countries growing reputation. The country will be visited by a number of people now and by some that people call important. Ive met some wonderful people already. Believe me im the most postive person someone could meet. As for the taxi doing the job. Well pray tell what a customer facing job entails?
The wannabees always say rules & law of the country... Where is it written can you provide a link.
