Connection?
Anyone see any connection between human rights meetings being in the papers every day and today's human trafficking report, which makes pretty grim reading for the government.

But people in the UK remember these events because they are rare, not because police regularly interfered in industrial relations. The miners aim was to overthrow the elected government by cutting off the fuel supply to power stations. In Wapping, the pickets were exceptionally violent.
In 20 years time, no one will remember the mass deportation of Nepalis in 2007, because everyone assumes it happens all the time.
But ngourlay, calling the police and saying please bring a van and take away the trouble makers, that's the kind of thing that has happened in the UK - Miners' strike and Wapping for starters.
Here's some more info on the report. Gets me wondering about the sanctions.

In a serious discussion like this, we should not say something we can't back up, right?
No worries, from my side i know what i'm saying! :)))

It's OK to have "serious" discussions about this kind of thing, but I think there are still some problems if you start ranting a bit too loudly. The blocking of Qatar Sucks sent a pretty strong message.
I think this is good. 5 years ago none of this would have been open to discussion let alone getting press coverage.
I know it doesn't rectify the situation but a spade is finally being called a spade.
Can you imagine the response in the UK or USA if you phoned the police and said "We've been having some labour-relations issues, could you send a van round to detain and deport the trouble-causers?"
They are also deporting expats on grounds of changing sponsors ONLY!without any consideration. Totally unhuman and unlawful.
Human rights bodies are useless in this case!
