Hello there,
I am a US citizen who willbe moving to Qatar end of October. I have an MBA degree in Management. Any advice on where to find a good job opportunity and where to apply.
Thanks!
To tell you more about my work experience, I have a 3 year experience in the educational field as the Student Affairs Director of Minnesota School of Business as well as 4 yaer experience in the Automobile Export/Import industry as a Legal/Finance Manager for a company based in Florida and operates in Minnesota.
Im sorry... it doesnt depend on the industry choices that you decide to make, it depends on your experience. For example, there is very little opportunity for managers in the oil and gas industry if you have very little or no industry experience. Having Middle East experience is also highly desirable in the O&G industry.
If you give more details on your past experience, maybe we could give you a little more direction.
If you have an MBA, you shoudl look into working at a few places:
1. All of Qatar's petro-chemical and gas plants are very good options.
2. Audit firms such as KPMG, Deloitte and Touche and Ernst and Younge.
3. Nasser bin Khalid and Sons - exclusive dealers of mercedes benz
4. Al Fardan group of Companies - they have an Exchange Company, Real Estate, Marines Section, Automobiles, Jewellery.
5. Alfardan Automobiles - exclusive dealers of Ferrari, Maserati, Rolls Royce, BMW, MINI, Ducati and KTM.
6. Dealers of Audi are just setting up shop with a new brand, they could be very good targets.
7. HSBC
8. Standard Chartered
In the end, it depends on the top thre eindustry choices you have. In Qatar though, most people go for where the most money is. If you follow that rule, then as an American with an MBA, you should have good chances with all of the above and a few more.
best of luck.
ps: Use your accent to teh fullest. It baffles/impresses/unsettles and bamboozles around here. Its funny, but true.

i agree with Giasi. MBA no good for O&G without experience. maybe audit firms as a consultant but you need to be a CA to do anything other than that.
