Before my father finally gave up the ghost he told me he has deposited a sum of Eleven million, seven hundred thousand United State Dollar (USD$11.700,000)left in one of the leading security company here in Abidjan
Ivroy coast West Africa. He made the deposit of the fund in a metalic trunk box as containing family valuable that belongs to a foreign partner. He further
told me that he deposited the box in my name as all  the documents bear my name as the depositor, and for the company not to open the box he made the the beneficary as foreign partner.

Please, i'm contacting you to kindly help me out of this situtaion and please do permit me to ask these few questions:-

All it takes is a quick search of the internet .. just google. And you will be then told about it. There are some great sites .. urban legends and myths is one. That detail all about hoax emails.

Just take the time to research anything you are suspicious about.

I usually reply to these messages - "yes I am interested, please call my secretary at 1-800-419-SCAM and discuss details with her." It usually works, and they don't bug me for some time. Or get an account at Gmail. Their spam filter makes wonders.

It is not just Africa, but also UK, America, UAE, Russia and a few other countries who send out similar emails.

I got in touch with one of the embassies and they said that they were aware of it.

I have received a lot of these mail and just delete it, if its too good to be true, it probably is. Surprisingly, I have received these emails on my qatar.net email account only, not on hotmail or yahoo.

Have a good day.

I have little sympathy for people who get caught out by THESE fraudsters cos they play on their victims greed.

Maybe there is something Darwinian about how these idiots get weeded out of the deep end of our human intellectual gene pool. Now if only we could actually stop them breeding!

If you watched the same program I did I am sure that you were as amazed as I was that seemingly intelligent people thought that this was a get rich quick scheme and willing to part with their hard earned cash.

It is not surprising that people do not come forward - would you if you lost all your money?

Enjoyable reading, but the best thing is always never to respond to anyone who even vaguely smells fishy, no matter how hungry you are!

In the cases that were discussed they replied as though they were going to help and followed through to a meeting (exchange of cash) at which point they were arrested.

I would however say that for those people foolish enough to think they are about to make a killing it may in fact be they who are killed. On some occassions when people met to give these people money - help bribe customs etc etc they were killed and robbed. It is amazing what some people will do for a quick buck!

Kerrie ... how you contact the local embassy? There are million of those e-mail floating around on the net, and they used e-mail like hotmail or yahoo which is nearly impossible to track it down. And also i doubt it they used their real name.

It is maybe worth contacting you local embassy as they may be interested.

Qatarexpat, my advise to you is just ignore it, I received a lot of emails w/c content almost similar to yours, it's a fraud! they're theives! if you answer them, they will start asking your personal details, espcly your account number. Just imagine, if out of 1,000 individual recieved their emails and 500 responsed? for just $1 taken fr thier acct. daily, Then they got $500 everyday. In fact, I received one of similar today and I just delete it. Pls. read the email I got today.

"Please bear with me for sending this letter to you surprisingly. My name is Miss Britt Karblee, a young lady originally from Liberia in west Africa.

My sole purpose of contacting you is for you to assist me in selling in your country or elsewhere of my rough (uncut) diamonds which weighs 14,220 carats, from (3-45 carats),(3kg gross)on the scale,("H"VS-1quality), all rough and Worth's about(US$8Million). The diamonds was deposited by my late father in a holding firm here in Senegal and it is waiting for my order to be transferred as I am the "NEXT OF KIN" to the deposit.I am presently living in Dakar Senegal".

Wish to hear from you soon.

Bye and God bless.

Best Regards

Miss Britt Karblee
