guys you ve all seen the ads about how signatures are out and pin is in for the new chip enabled credit cards. i found that these dont work outside qatar, not even in dubai and certainly not in the states.(as recently as few days back)...meaning i still end up signing bits of paper. On calling the bank they denied that that could happen.Im now going to show them the signed receipts of transactions. i just want to know if anyone else has had the same experience. thanks

@ cool, basically each cointey has an identifier. Each country has to add the identifier to its database for it to work. I dont know about two months ago but i used around 1 month ago

they work in the uk and I just used it in chills bahrian. Its to do with countrieS that dont implement the global system, not the card itself

in Dubai last week, my debit and credit cards worked maybe once out of 4 times. My wife's cards (same bank) a little more often. We ended up using an Australian card for most stuff.

What if you dont upgrade your regular visa from that chip-based card? And still use the old bill me and sign the paper transaction!

does that mean the chip n pin cards are not being used outside Doha (which would be strange) or a technical fault by the issuing bank here in Qatar?
