Child Beauty Pageants - are they GOOD or BAD?

azilana7037
By azilana7037

Some people may think its good, some says it's bad and/or both...

I find it cute as long as it's made out of fun and not make a career out of it. Coz some parents do

Do you think it helps children gain confidence or makes them lose confidence if they lose the pageant?

What do you think of child beauty pageants?

and the way the children's minds are molded...so superficial...

but then again...if no one patronizes these kinds of pageants, they won't flourish. I guess, some lazy parents wants the easy bucks/moolah...and let their children do the walking...catwalking in this manner.

I won't support them, neither agree to child beauty pageants.

Another thing you have to remember the cost of the photography agency, the agents cuts, the clothing and what ever takes will be in 500,000 thousand dollars bracket every six months all expense out of your pocket.

I believe, it was designed by those rich-filthy individuals, only for the rich nothing else.

Not counting the mental, emotional and financial toll on the parents.

i don't see anything wrong with beauty pageants. for me, it helps girls gain self-esteem by the exposure they get and i deem its really important. however, there's always a limitation. parents shouldn't force their children if the kids themselves don't want to do it.

Forgot to say ,,,,,NO , it absolutely does not help children gain real life confidence . How can anything so shallow or insincere ever do that. Ive worked with a lot of children in my job and been humbled to see them overcome their shyness , awkwardness, and lack of confidence by simply training them well and EMPOWERING them with knowledge and understanding.

Without going into all the details , I think childrens beauty pageants are absolutely vile and detestible. Just about every generalization you can make is very close to the mark. What I find the hardest thing to believe is thet the perents dont accept the full responsibility for "sexualising", these children in the eyes of paedophiles by dressing them up like little ladies etcetc.

I think all beauty pagents are superficial and meaningless, who defines beauty anyway. dont get me started on childrens pagents, its just plain wrong...

Yeah those mothers are real scary too, actually the mothers are to blame for pushing their freaky little creatures in beauty pageants.........as if they were real life dolls......sinister stuff!

ACCORDING TO ME I DONT THINK ITS GOOD FRO CHILDREN COZ THERE CHILDHOOD IS USED FOR STUDYING AND PLAYING AND DOING A LOT OF EXTRACURRICULUM ACTIVITIES RATHER THAN GOING FOR THIS BULL SHOT ACTIVITIES WERE THEY HAVE TO EXPOSE DER BODIES AND SHOW TO MILLIONS OF PEOPLE.ITS UTTER NONSENSE.

The children look like freaks! Its disgusting! Imagine the egos of these kids at such a young age it quite scary! They should be banned.....let these little brats get covered in mud and behave like children not a paedophiles dream!

I second what Brit and Tess say - confidence doesn't necessarily come in the way a person looks. It plays a big part - but at that age, there are plenty of other ways in which children can develop confidence in themselves. Looks tend to lose themselves as one gets older - so what's the point of making them look like little dolls? hmmmmmm not my cup of tea

I think any kind of competitions in which children are judged on appearance are wrong! This way they will only learn to be superficial and judge other people on looks instead of character.

warms the heart of parents like me...sharing the pride that the children can do much more for their young age...

just don't make it a career out of these pageants and make the children enjoy her childhood...

back in the Philippines, there are tv shows having these type of contests...but that's it...just a contest.

I think in the US, it;s prevalent...seen a lot in YOUTUBE too.

All children are beautiful. They shouldn't even allow such kind of competitions. It is a way of exploiting children for financial gains by the parents. How can you get confidence by attending such events, where you will be judged by your external appearance? Confidence is something to do with the way you think, not the way you look. Shame to the parents who are putting their kids through such competitions.

How can "children remain children" if they are made to dress and behave as adults.

Child pageants should be banned..

I wouldn't do it. I'm more for my children to get into sports or play in mud on the beach as fun. Beauty pageants mess up the kids mind.

My opinion.

Well, yeah. Dressing little girls like supermodels is cute and it helps them gain confidence. However, i think there's some sort of psychological effect with the kids. Just like what I've seen in Dr. Phil. It makes little girls obsessed with make-ups, clothes, shoes, bags and the list goes on. And the worst effect is the kids feels like they should always look skinny. And its really bad for their health.

cheers,

paul
