Hi,

I'd like to know especially from people who have come / coming from the UK, if they know of a company they have used for cargo to Qatar. Do not have a great deal maybe 4-5 boxes of total 150-200kg so prob too much too use air cargo.

However, if someone can help out can u also give a good company for aircargo too.

For both above websites / telephones would be great.

Also, does someone know if i choose Door to Port how much does it cost to go through customs etc (and any other hidden costs to look out for) .... can u urself go and pick it up from the airport / port???

 Thanks for any help..

The DVD collection (friend's) were in individual boxes, clearly marked. Most were original but there were some copies in there too, I think.

I doubt they (your DVDs) would get confiscated just for being copies, but I don't know what they would do if they can't access the disks to view the movies to check that they are not p0rn or whatever....

Sorry - not much help...

Edited to add: All my boxes had obviously been opened by hand.

well, my extra worry is that most are on a dvd disk, although the only record of what they are about is a pen marking on the disc whether it is movies copied or software. However, they are technically not DVD movies, i.e. play on a traditional dvd player, they are on divx where you can fit 5/6 movies on one disc. So, although some newer dvds players can have the capability to play divx (whereas all pcs do [as long as you have the codecs installed], i do not know whether they will be able to play them.

However, they are technically someone could say copirighted material copied, so am afraid they'll take it from me 4 good.

I know it may be hard for you to remember but did your dics come in seperate cases [i.e.] easy to find within boxes (+ did you have CD/DVD marked on the box so they knew where to look.)

I've gone thru DOH in the past with 50+ discs with no check, but i think some 300 discs on the x-ray machine might arouse some suspicion??

Do u know if they x-ray shipments 4 discs and others like they do as u arrive in doha or do they they check by hand?

When I had my stuff shipped in, they obviously opened EVERY BOX. Nothing was confiscated (to my knowledge), but it took ages to clear Customs so I assume they did a bit of a check. I had a few hundred CDs in there, but only about 10 DVDs.

When a friend had his stuff shipped in (including DVD collection of several hundred) he had the DVDs and CDs held back for longer than the rest of the shipment, while they "checked" them, then they were returned.

At the time they didn't say any were confiscated, although since then he hasn't been able to find a couple of movies, strangely...

I seem to be talking to myself in this thread but anyhow.

I am sending some stuff and some will be DVDs, actually most are DVD-R and I have movies / tv series on divx format; that I have burned myself ... so they only have the title marked with a cd pen; hope u know what im talking about.

Anyway, will they be checked, I will probably have close to 300 disks, a few actual movie DVDs (real), some software, some games, ALL this burned by me.

How do they know, where there are DVDs. All of them are in 25/50 disc spindles, so they will not know it is there, unless I mention it specifically.

Please help, cos I do not want it all to be confiscated!

Hi, I have got quite a seemingly good quote from the UK but would like to know if the info given seems accurate.

I was given a quote of £250 for 3 cubic metres of personal belongings from my address outside London to be picked up with all export documentation and delivery to Doha Port.

However, when at the very end I asked how many tea chests boxes (of size 61cm X51 X 41; which equal 0.128 cubic metres) would be in a cubic metre I was told it would be 4/5. When I questioned this against the discrepancy, I was told this was because when it goes on a pallet, the cubage is not fully accurate.

However, is such a discrepancy the norm....?

Oh and for the 30kg ... u are allowed I think around 50kg from US/Canafa to E.U. etc not 20kg as is the norm everywhere else ... in case you dont know.
