Car Xenon Headlights

Most of the cars in Qatar are fitted with a Xenon Headlights. Now this have became a trend or we can say a fashion. But people should understand that this one of the big factor for causing accident. In Most of the countries they have burnt.
Why is the Government of Qatar not taking an action on these types of issues? As it can reduce the accident and safe guard people

reviving a 3 yr old thread :)

The problem with these HID lights are not with the lights themselves. Its in the housing they are put into. Putting HID bulbs in a normal "reflector" headlight would definitely scatter light all over the place, this creates glare specially for oncoming traffic. Now, HID placed in a "projector" type headlight would focus the light and direct it properly where it needs to go. This is the safe and legal route.

Before "upgrading" to an HID be sure to check your headlights if they are equipped with projectors otherwise stick with the halogen.

Now then, whats the legal HID temperature here in Doha? I'm hearing its only 6000k maximum, but I do see a lot still with what I perceive to be 8000k or even 10000k HIDs can anyone confirm this?

You should not get proper Xenon (or HID) mixed up with after-market or xenon-look-alike systems.

Factory fitted HID lamps use less energy and produce more light than comparable Halogen bulbs. They improve road safety.

However, after-market system, typical on Landcruisers here, are garbage. These degrade road safety for everyone.

Only thing better than Xenon is LED due to even lower energy consumption.

Why do you go for the more powered Xenon Lights? Use your normal Headlights which come with the vehicle.

These will save your neighborhood who is driving in opposite vehicles and perhaps you as well in some cases.

Jack like I asked before, what alternative you propose. As far as I know Xenon is the best option at the moment.

First I am sorry to all, for a delay reply.

Thank you azamat for your support.

For those who support having Xenon Lights, One small example I would like to share with you guys, a friend of mine who was driving on Al Shamal road meet with an accident last week, but nothing happened only the car got damaged. The reason behind the accident was a land cruiser which was in full speed came near him and flashed the light, where my friend tried to pull the car but he was unable to see the mirror as there was reflection of light in it. As the guy was horning he tried to pull and meet with an accident.

I agree my friend also committed a mistake of pulling the car, he should he stayed until he was getting a clear view.

But still friends we need to see the fact from both the point. Why i post this atleast QL Members will take my point and avoid using Powerfull Xenon Lights

Cheers

You can always replace your OEM rear view mirror with an aftermarket auto dim one.

This one idiot in a huge 4WD stopped at the traffic light with superbright xenon lamps. The guy in front got out of his car and asked this clown to dim the lights. To which the clowns reaction was to flash his light and gesture to the complainant to get lost.

Welcome to Qatar.

Whoever says high intensity xenon lamps are good have lost their minds. The glare distracts other drivers and cause fatigue.

You must mean the after market "Xenon" lookalike bulbs - which i agree are dangerous for opposing traffic and "tailgaters"....

OEM Xenon's are safe - both for the driver and other traffic.

The cars equipped with factory fitted xenon lights are licensed to that particular region cars with the xenon fitted outside in the local market are of 12000k to 20000k which is illegal and glares. This causes trouble for few people to drive...As long has both go in their own way i guess there wudnt be any problem..

Less fuel consumption ? How ?

You have any alternative in mind?

Xenon produces better output than older Halogen lamps and uses much less energy leading to less fuel consumption.

The visibility improves a lot, what's the problem you have with it?

By Mr M.• 9 Feb 2011 16:41
Mr M.

The fact is Xenon head lamps are much better than ordinary head lights as they give a much better and richer illumination ability. This certainly will help avoid accidents rather than actually cause them INSHA ALLAH.
