British visa a lot more than American visa?

I just recently applied for a settlement visa at British embassy, which they gave 2 years and 3 months enough time for me to process to the next step. This cost me 3,369 Qatari Riyals. My friend applied for 6 months visit visa to UK that cost her 490 Qatari Riyals because if she apply for 2 years, it will cost her even more. Now, she applied for a visa at American embassy as she intend to visit her brother who is married to an American. Within one day, she collected her passport at the American embassy and they gave her 10 YEARS VISITING VISA! which only cost her 470 Qatari Riyals! Why is that the British visa cost a lot more than American visa?

"Their dream is not to go to Europe" - how true, they have already passed through Europe to get to the UK - they actually want to LEAVE Europe :D

"Deaths in the Bible. God - 2,270,365

not including the victims of Noah's flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the

many plagues, famines, fiery serpents, etc because no specific numbers

were given. Satan - 10."

Maybe at long last but far to late the UK government have realised that the UK is an island which is now full to bursting and is now taking immigration more serious and adopting a different policy from the past.

Unlike genuine visitors like you many people arrive and simply dissapear when it is time to return when their visa expires.

The truth

Their dream is not to go to Europe, but to earn money and offer a better life for their families back home or to achieve something in their lives that they cannot EVER achieve back home.

If you could only see the conditions they live in in their home countries, you would understand that taking that risk is not that bad after all....

Those people who do those things are illegal immigrant. And they don't have connections, like being married to a British citizen. For sure they don't need to pay :P but is it worthtaking risk? I don't understand people who take risk and put themselves in that situation. I supposed they just wanted to make their dreams come true to go Europe, no matter how risky it is. :(

Have a nice day!

You would need to live in the UK for 5 years while married to the brit in order to process your British passport.

Everything in UK is expensive, the massively inflated price of the visa and the amount of hassle it takes to get it is probably designed to prepare visitors for how life is there. Enjoy.

JJH, just marrying a Brit doesn't get you a passport. ou need to spend a certain amount of time in UK, without a break too. 2 years I think. I know a Brit married to an Indian girl for 20 years. She doesn't want a British passport!

But it's quite a lot of difference! don't you think? and my friend was asked by her interviewer at American Embassy, why she hasn't got a British passport yet? when she's married to British guy for 15 years with 2 children? same case with me, I am married for 14 years with 2 children. And for how many times my friends applied for visiting visa, they always give them a hard time!

Have a nice day!

Britain is not America. Same reason a Bahrain visa costs me 50QR and a Qatar one twice that.

It's all about reciprocal agreements.
