british boy kills ex-gf over free-breakfast

London, July 28 (IANS) A schoolboy in Britain is facing life sentence for murdering his former girlfriend over a bet for a free breakfast.

Sixteen-year-old Joshua Davies was promised a full-cooked breakfast by a friend for carrying out his threat to murder his lover Rebecca Aylward, 15.

Davies and Rebecca had already split up but she visited him, hoping they would reconcile.

The schoolboy, however, had plotted to give her deadly foxgloves (flowers), drown her in a river or throw her off a cliff.

Rebecca even bought new clothes for the 'date', being unaware that Davies had been boasting to his friends how easy it would be to kill her, Daily Mail reported.

The murder trial heard how their teenage love affair turned into a love-hate relationship and finally culminating in a horrific murder.

Davies openly plotted to murder Rebecca by sending chilling text messages to his friends about his plans to do it.

In one such text messages to a friend, Davies wrote: 'What would you do if I actually did kill her?'

The friend replied: 'Oh, I would buy you breakfast.'

Two days ahead of carrying out the murder Davies messaged to the friend: 'Don't say anything but you may just owe me a breakfast.

Davies lured a cheerful and fun-loving Rebecca into woods where he battered her to death with a rock, the court heard.

yeah..lots of killings happening around the world, not only in UK of course, and it's so sad that the reason behind the killing is nonsense and shallow reason or even out of fun..can't believe that someone will kill a defenseless innocent victim to have a free breakfast...anyway, he'll have his free breakfast in the jail--for good.. may the soul of the poor victim rest in peace and may she won her justice that she deserve...

I remember I had a "friend" growing up who would always brag about doing this or that.  He sounded like a broken record, and after awhile we stopped beliving what he said and would purposely gaod him into telling wilder and wilder tales, for our amusement because he didn't seem to get that we were making fun of him.  This stikes me as a similar situation.

Oh I hope so cos its terrible to imagine that today youngsters can actually sit around and joke about killing someone and feel no remorse when it actually happens. And yes he's defence is likely to push for an insanity plee, which I hope no sane jury will accept!

Fatima, I think in the case of the friends, it was just kids being kids and poking fun at him for always saying he was going to kill her.  I don't think they really expected him to go ahead with it, hence why it was his friends who turned him in.  Frankly I think they'll be living with a lot of guilt for the rest of their lives. As for insanity, while he is no doubt a certified sociopath, he knew what he was doing was wrong, which means he can't be declared insane.

First of all this does not just happen in the UK. Mindless murders are carried out everywhere in the world.

Steve - The UK is not that great but it is not as bad reported in the press.

Princess: if a person is trying to control, he will emotionally blackmail first, like either on religious point or nationalism, some rights blah blah,

M not discussing the boy matter right now.. Talking n general, day to day situation.. Wars, terror attacks,

Abt the guy m sure that he will get proper punishment insha Allah

But what about he's so called friends? Did they really think he was just kidding or were they actually looking for some cheap entertainment and thrill by this all? Judging by the fact that they were actually encouraging him and challenging him to do it,even if they may claim it was in jest, I hope they too are not let off scot free and are punished. Its scary how many senseless murders are being committed around the world.. Audubillah! May God protect our children from such monstrous companions..Aameen!

Ingeniero - Controlling our minds is only ours to make whether we let these people influence the way we think or not. And no one can force you to do such a thing without u saying yes to it. We never stopped thinking. Our minds are always working as long as we are alive, what's wrong is we sometimes stop thinking rationally. In this case,i just hope that the criminal whether he is normal, an addict or has psychological problems,I just hope he won't get away from this and the girl's death will have justice..

I agree with you that there are a lot of things wtong with the society - especially violence amongst the young.

However, this case is not your typical murder. I would say that the guy has a serious psychological problem. I do however hope that he doesn't get away with an insanity plea.

Why do you think we expat Brits left the UK? its a violent place to live.

If you drove on a British road like you do here you would be lucky so get away with a beating, road rage deaths in the UK average 800 a year! A few years ago a pregnant woman was killed because she cut infront of someone in traffic!

This is probably why not too many Brits have commented, its not that unusual really.

Actually we can say.. The whole world is in hands of few...

Who are making us fool..

These are our political leaders, our religious leaders... Who have control of our mind, they make us think, what they want to... They make us to do, what they want to... So that they are n power..

We ppl stopped thinking.. And just blindly following them..

We are not thnking positive direction...

And this all is leading to unhealthy envirnment and society...

Haterd is increasing...

Every one know better, that who are the culprits, but they are blindly following.... :(

There's been an increasing number of this type of news everywhere---teen & mom/dad murderers, drug related death, investment scam, identity theft, hacking...what's this? The film & entertainment industry have the duty to create positive role models for the viewing public instead of glorifying psychos, killers, maniacs, thieves, drug addicts, etc just to cash in huge revenues.  More power to censors!

SS - Absolutely, the value of people's lives nowadays are getting lesser and lesser and it's sad to know that people find it such an easy thing to take away. Let's just hope that the soul of this young girl will rest in peace..that's the best thing we could do for her now.

Ingeniero - Yeah u don't believe in darwin's theory but people are going on the wrong way for sure.. This murderer must be an addict or has psychological problems i may say..but he could also be normal.. Not all of us have the idea of how much power the human mind has. I've been reading about mental chemistry and IMO It goes beyond what we can imagine..

aisha13, spot  on..i think this kid needs a professional help..i can now imagine how the family of the ill-fated child grives on her untimely demise.. ps, yeah you're right..time will come that killing someone is like a simple as breathing and anyone can take someone's life without batting an eyelashes..and to top it all..some even take or even use their own lives as suicide bombers to terrorize..for the name of whatever reasons they have in mind..

Violence or any crime in any way for whatever reasons will always surprise us, I got this feeling that we are heading  to the point when murder, rape or any form of crime will not be surprising anymore..i admit that at some points in my life nowadays i'm not surprised anymore when I heard a news of people killing others, the reason behind their killings is what surprises me because almost always the reasons are not that big..I do believe that whatver the reason it will never ever be valid to take someone's life..:(

S.S not the worst for me.A mother killing her own child, a child killing his/her parents, a father raping his own daughter are still the worst crimes for me though it's rampant nowadays..

this is one of the worst news i ever read..i'm wondering what's running on his mind when he killed the innocent victim and i think his friends are also shocked by his murderous action...wish he'll not plead "insanity" to escape his wrong doings..
