Bookshop and Eye Specialist

I guess these are related

Are there any decent bookshops in Doha - I'm not expecting western standard shops - just one with a good selection of recent novels.

Also - Is there a good eye hospital or does anyone know a good eye specialist in Doha?

Ouch! - there are a couple of very good book stores in Bahrain - one in Seef mall and the other in Ahli Mall.

never thought I'd ever be coming back to this place for shopping...

Yes DavidB amazon is there but the problem is that I ordered three books for my son last month. Cost of books, QR 118, Shipping and handling QR 110. Order has to be big enough to cater for shipping & handling.

There is a new bookstore opening in City Center. Suppose to be by the end of this month. It is on the third floor I believe. I'm really hoping that this one is better then Jarir!

is very poor for novels unless you like Danielle Steel, Grisham etc. There is a real opportunity here for a local to start a good bookstore.

The only other one I know is Family Book Store on Nasr Street. Its also pretty bad but has a better selection of novels than Jarir.

Thanks Oryx - Is this the same Jarir bookshop that's in Riyad?

We've also got heaps - perhaps we can do a borrow/swap
