Birth of a Nation

Southern Sudan is preparing for an Independence Vote and looks likely that a new nation will be born..

Will the split be peaceful or will we have another war ?

What i find interesting is why Sudan would want to give up 80% of its Oil reserves to the new country. Is there more to it than meets the eye ?

Why don't you read the full news and stop being so selective, the reward is there, if North Sudan let the South split,Sudan name will be lifted from the blacklist and will receive economic help technology and farming equipments, British applied divide and conquor very intelligently everywhere they been, next on the list is Iraq Kurdish people are already asking and talking about a referendum to decide whether they should split or remain within one united Iraq.

Good governance and Africa don't go together..

So, we know what the answer is :O(

i told ya it depends on the governance of the authorities and how they address the issues pretaining to the tribes......... most of the tribes are herdsmen and village people who have no say or even interest in other affairs other than their own....so if conflicts may arrise it will be limited to utilities and land only..... hopefully they wont fight against each other.... the key is smart governance....... but i believe also tht the new government wud need assistance when it comes to handling the other conflicts such as the foreign and proxy wars of chadian groups and also the LRA....

So , will the new nation survive or will the tribes fight between themselves ?

its very difficult to say, the separation was inevitable..... like is known very well, politics is a complex issue...... south sudan is no exception.... oil rich region of abyey which is between south and north, other conflicts of the south with other groups of the south sudan, and LRA and chadian groups, i mean really it depends if and only if selvat kiir can address if not all but most of the concerns of the tribes and atleast try to make peace and dialogue with all of them.....i know its asking a lot becuz there are atleast 10,000 trbes there but they have their ways..... again a very complicated and delicate process..... needs to handled with care....

There will always be wars .. They make economic sense :O)

Will the new nation survive, or wil it have to be propped up - like Haiti for example..

Brit... I have a british friend. Once I was talking to him on different religions, he said I am an atheist. I dont belive on any religion. I got bit shocked coz I know he was christian. I asked him the reason why. And you will be surprised what he answered. He said if there was no religion there will no war and no bloodshed. What ever I said he insisted on this belief.

I guess now we can say if there was no Oil there will be no war and no bloodshed.

sudan is very very very rich country, and even if all countries made an economical siege around it it will survive happily BUT.

others like to share the cake whatever the results are ;)
