Beware : Speed Radar’s On vehicles…

RedDragon
By RedDragon

I had parked my car near the rainbow round about, to make a phone call and there was flashes when ever a car goes speeding by. I was quite surprised becoz I knew there was no speed camera in that area, but realized after carefully scrutinizing the area that it was coming from the car parked innocently behind me…WOW traffic department has the ultimate mobile Cam’s.. i guess knowing the location of fixed cameras doesn’t count any more…

If you speed through a green light at an intersection that has a red light camera, it will also flash and you'll get a ticket for speeding.

I've seen this happen heaps of times on airport road.

No, I'm sure nearly everyone is guilty of committing traffic violations every now and then, but as you say some are worse than others. Speeding in built up areas (i.e. Doha) is far more dangerous than speeding on an open road with nothing around, and tailgating is extremely dangerous but seems to be a favourite pastime here. But you can't complain about the police trying to catch people any way they can. Rules is rules!

Can anyone honestly say that they haven't broken the law when behind the wheel ?

Speeding

Undertaking

Leaving the engine running whilst away from the vehicle

Using your horn to attract a shopkeeper

Tailgating

etc etc

We may see them as minor or even a nuisance, but they are all illegal.

Is someone doing 140kph in a 100kph more dangerous than someone driving up a one way street the wrong way to avoid a roundabout, or double parking and blocking a road to pick up his dry cleaning ?

Lets face it, we have a choice. Obey the law or face the consequences.

But we all know that no one is innocent.

I guess they're getting there slowly, but people still treat speeding as something that's fine as long as you don't get caught. This thread is basically saying that you need to watch out for mobile cams so you don't get caught speeding, two people happily admitted to speeding in their comments, and several other people's comments imply that they speed and are worried about caught by these new cameras.

The best way to not get caught by these cameras is not to speed in the first place. It's not rocket science people!

As I have always believed, it was just a matter of time before a crackdown would come. Too many young people have died here on the roads because of speeding and it also endangesr other drivers too.

Glad to see the police are actually enforcing some of the new traffic laws, but I still say there needs to be more officers on the roads as I regularly see traffic violations whenever I'm out and about.

I was at the Gold Souk last night. The road that runs next to the bus terminal that has been made one-way was swarming with Police Officers.

They stopped every car that went the wrong way up the street. What was amazing was you could see the police car and the officers in their hi-vis jackets and yet cars still entered the street. Interestingly, though not suprisingly, most of the cars were Range Rover Sports, Mercedes, BMWs and Landcruisers. I watched for around 30 minutes and i must have seen a car being caught every 30 seconds.

I find it very satisfying to see the new laws being enforced. I know one day I'll be caught for speeding, I'll accept it as no one made me put my foot on the accelerator. But I will still moan !

i like your idea. i will do that. i hava a signage in my rear that kids are on board but these tailgaters doesnt care at all if they endanger the vehicle infront of them. one single mistake in a split seconds he can kill us all.

Jilfer ... You reminded me when i was in Abu Dhabi-UAE in 1984 and 1st time when I saw camera flashed from behind the vehicle and noticed it was a mobile camera .... ;-)

Why are indicators manufactured into cars here, they are so utterly superficial as the majority of people have no idea how to use them, driving allon the road calmly and keeping distance to the driver in front you suddenly find yourself on deaths door, as the driver in the other lane suddenly decides that he needed to take that space so he moves over without looking and saying to himself the one at the back pays if he/she crashes me ha ha.

They are swarming the whole place....

...should I "fix" my vehicle to run only around 75-80kms?

jilfer..was it a 4x4 or a sedan?

Most probably a 4x4. Should make it a point to watch out for parked 4x4s.

I m also thinking to carry a flash-camera/mobile for the tailgater...as he speeds past me he will find a flash in his rear view mirror....which will keep him guessing & visiting the moi site frequently....lol.
