I think Lara was a better cricketer...only because of his 400 something runs.....while Sachin could never reach 300.
To score 300 or 400 a batsman has to score a lot of boundaries while ironically Sachin decided to slow down his pace of runmaking.
But only one person has been more consistent than Sachin...the great man of the near perfect 99.99 average Donald Bradman!!!
And if you consider his position in Indian Cricket and the fanfare, fame, money, etc he has been supremely lucky to keep himself above any kind of scandal. He is also blessed with a very good character and sporting spirit.
If Sachin can score one 300plus or one 400 plus runs then he can take the mantle of the 2nd best Cricketer the world ever produced. . 1st being Don Bradman.
ArchitectJ> Tendulkar had his own ways to reduce the pressure from public. He always had the support from people like Gavaskar and others when he wasn't performing. Also rarely i have seen indian media criticizing him so badly, at least not to the extent they did to Ganguly! (Lol :) poor ganguly, although I feel that Ganguly is a better batsman than Tendulkar, he scored his centuries so quick than tendulkar at start of his career. now that’s another discussion,)
In the Caribbean situation was different. I saw the newspapers and commentators like Ian Bishop criticizing Lara so badly when he was the captain. He was criticized immensely as a captain in the series against England in 2004, where WI lost first 3 games, and then Lara stood up alone to answer all those with a 400*..
But good enough, caribbean cricket lovers didn’t throw stones at Lara’s house!
Lara more mentally tough than tendulkar? no way! he didnt have to go through half the pressure tendulkar had to go through, with a billion cricket crazy population behind him.
Has to be LARA. It goes without saying. Tendulkar played for himself and records. He also quit captaincy due to pressure. However LARA managed his game as well as his team.. It is very difficult to mantain such records when you have no one to back you.
yeah agreed brit. He never had a batting partner to bat along with him. Teldulkar came across many of them, who took over half of his pressure mostly, like Ganguly, Dravid, Azharuddin, Sidhu, Laxman etc.
brit> when you are talking about mental strenghts it has to be Lara again.. in books tendulkar never had a mental strenght and focus to bat long innings.. he's never got a tripple ton, where as lara had may of them.
also lara played in a very weak team and still got many runs, i remember a series against SL, where WI lost 3-0, but lara managed one double ton with 3 100's.
I cann't agree with better mental strength of tendulker because he often failed when it most mattered for Indian team. Cann't disagree with his achievements anyway. scoring 400 in a test which lara did twice is far a dream for tendulker.
he got his runs in less tests and played in a much worse side. Tendulkar had good players around him and seldom delievered when it really mattered. Still one of the best ever, but Lara just edges him.

Massa die already :)

charan it has to be non of the both.... right.....by the way..Hamilton won :(
But good enough, caribbean cricket lovers didn’t throw stones at Lara’s house!

lara was a matching wining batsman. he is far better than tendulkar

Lara has played less matches...and he has his own style of batting.... LARA it is
yeah agreed brit. He never had a batting partner to bat along with him. Teldulkar came across many of them, who took over half of his pressure mostly, like Ganguly, Dravid, Azharuddin, Sidhu, Laxman etc.
In a way, lara was very unlucky,

Lara is much better than sachin.
I bow to your better judgement. I just feel that Lara could have achieved a lot lot more than he did.

Has to be Tendulkar in my books. Lara has the Charisma , but i think Tendulkar has the variety of shots and better mental strength.
