I need to buy a gift for a dear friend, she is at her 20s,so I want something really nice and cool,,I think that Damas is the best place, yet it is expensive, any suggestions where to get a nice gift???????????????
I know that it will be busy for the Asian Games. I had two spells with DAGOC, the last one in 2004.
My Mrs tells me that Megamart had taken over the grocery section of the Centre when we were there last time. Just goes to show how much notice I take when we went shopping. I think the Ramada belongs to Ghanim Holdings so that's why they do the catering in there.
I know that Sh. Al Ghanim own's the property (Land and Building). The Grocery section is MegaMart which is part of a UAE based organisation (Choitrams - not sure about the spelling) the food court is run my Ramada. The bakery is by Bateel - very nice pastries and crossiants. The Franchises have changed as well.
You need to pay Qatar a visit after Dec 2006. There are a lot of changes taking place, as well as a lot of very bad accidents due to this - four to eight car pile-up.
Orient Jewellers have a good selection of European style gold items (including Italian 18ct). To get there: Turn left at the Q-Tel lights coming from "The Centre" into town and drive to the next little roundabout (about 300m). If you are driving there is a car park at the end on the left. Walk to the end of the road, turn right and its about 60m on your left.
Alternatively, if you know "Bread Street" it's at the other end from the mosque, turn right and it's on your right. Sorry but I don't know the street name

Cheers for that Angelo, I must make another visit to Qatar to check what has changed.
I assume that the franchises are still in the building. The only part that Sh Ghanim actually owned (apart from the building), was the food part.
Dweller,
you have a good memory, "The Centre" is no more, it has been taken over by MegaMart.
Angelo
It is o.k dear, anyway I wont be going during the week-end(Too much crowded)
Doha fan, I have just realised that I dind't tell you to turn right at the small roundabout 300m from the Q-Tel traffic lights.
