Best Music in Doha

The music scene in Qatar can be hit and miss, many places have live music that is for perhaps an exclusive taste and finding something that is enjoyable for the many is difficult. One happy discovery I've found is the music at the Ritz, a fantastic pianist provides live music but rather than the tired classics being strummed the music was modern tunes played in a classical format. Nirvana has never sounded so cultred until played on a baby grand piano. By interpreting modern music on a classic medium it pleases the whole audience and gives a very enjoyable listening experience. Hearing Nirvana played by a very skilled musician is one of the best musical experiences I've had in Doha. Thank you to the manager that found such a talent.

Though bar hopping and rating a certain place wether it is best or not depends on the person's preference or taste. But here in Doha, it is like a simple quiz to find out which is the best due to a very few choices of bars and lounges in the city. Just eliminate those cheapy bars base on your personal experience. And try to observe these nightcrawlers (party people) where or to which place they are mostly spending their money. Try also to listen to these people which Lounge/bar name they oftenly mention, and for sure you will know which is the best place to go with your dancing shoes. Peace.

I think I heard her play GunsN'Roses on that piano... (nice).

I also heard Nirvana's "Smells like teen spirit" ... so different, it sounded sensual, and not ANGRY.

Let me just provide/give you the type of music you wanted. Just imagine that you are inside a lounge or a bar you are always dreaming. Coz we both grew up in a place were the nightlife is uncomparably much much better than here(so to speak). by the way, im a KABAYAN who is working in one of the best(as they say) lounge/bar here in Doha. It's free, dont worry. Just pm me. Peace.

Underground music scene - kinda like getting a Qatar Living flash mob together but with some mucis to it too, nice idea - we need only a few things;

Loud outdoor music equipment

A big crowd of happy peple

Donuts - for blood sugar energy boosts

Impressive lighting effects

Energy Drinks, to keep the crowds going

Stunningly good music of different types

With theses items we can have the most important L-A-D-I-E-S, yes LADIES!! lots of them.

I'm not talking about setting up a rave, I'm saying let's get something going underground first. If Iranians can do it, why can't people in Doha?

Rave? That takes me back to my youth - glow sticks, club whistles and lots of hair gel; good times. Oi Oi. Thumping euro dance beats with a healty serving of 'phat' bass. Might have to go on itunes and download some classics, just for the memories.

Iran has underground raves...let's get some underground music going, but without the drugs. I'm sure that guy who owns the house with the dinosaurs near Ain Khalid would be willing to let us use his backyard.

Best music is the tunes that blast out of my car - if you spot me and if you can stop me, then I might let you listen to the quality that is stored on my ipod - tunes gathered from around the world, its a real mixing pot of types, styles, speeds, sounds and cultures.

Blue car, red lady devil on the back window.

I'm sort of sick of pulsating trance music. Especially when I hear it at the gym every morning.

We have some people from the Orchestra who arranges their own gigs and gives their fare share of classical music to Qatar. It's not all about mainstream music not to mention most of it is as good as crass.

Seriously, I'm ridiculously tired of going to clubs, pubs and bars. Tell me about the Harp, they only have 1 CD. Shame.

I enjoy the live music at the Marriott, in the evenings. The violinist and pianist are awesome.

I also used to enjoy the oriental music played on Tuesdays, the oud musician was so authentic.

Most bars its best to take your ipod with you, the live music is generally pretty bad and often played via some poor equipment that is turned too loud and distorts badly.

Go to the Ritz for the food but stay for the music - she really is amazingly talented and plays a real range of tunes its fun to try to guess them from the first few notes. She is also pretty stunning to look at, but that did not influence my appreciation of the music - honest.

She played nirvana?? Whoa, that's kinda awesome. When I was there she was playing pop classic standards but nothing too modern. Is there any decent jazz around??
