Behaviour during shows and concerts

We've been yesterday to the "Mevlevi Sema Ceremony" at QF, nice show, very calm, but.

Kids playing and shouting, well it is somehow a family event (well they get bored during such show, for sure), so you get along with the kids, to a certain extend.

But people moving all the time... And eating all the time during the show, the guys behind us where eating sandwiches (alu foil, not a got idea) during the end of the ceremony. For people not aware of it, this last part is a lecture of the Qur'an followed by a prayer.

How can you be miseducated enough to think that there is no problem in eating your bloody kebab while a guys is kneeling and another one reading sacred texts ?
And this is not a "local" problem, all these people where from very different countries, including Turkey.

Any comment

Out of curiosity, was there any promotion/advertising of this event to the public BEFORE it took place? Perhaps I don't keep up with events here much, but if I'd known about if, I'd have certainly attended.

I have been to several QPO concerts already and people were quiet enough. Eating during some events is normal in several countries, I was in germany before, they even have "lunch seminars" where you give your talks in front of people eating...

But noisy eating, during a religious event... If anyone is aware of a culture/religion that allows that kind of stuff please say so.

And, again, this not about locals or turkish people, this is more of a general crowd behaviour.

Genesis,

You are not having a good day mate. Is it because of the visa thread?

The topic of this post was never about me.

The topic of this post is about behavior of the crowd in a public event in Qatar.

All I said was:

"This is Qatar"

Pretty much summarizes all what others also said here.

Now, don’t take it personal, this is Qatar and nothing you and me can do about it!

Enjoy your afternoon out on the sun and stay away from crowds if you don’t want get exposed to what we are talking about here.

;)

where did i personally attacked you in this thread!

you're the one whose consumed with negativity in each & every thread. therefor , i can only assume that your statement was a racial remark presented sarcastically as usual.

Plus you haven't contributed anything to the thread or the main subject to debate about

I would never go to a music concert in Qatar, no matter who performs. The people here will ruin everything.

Genesis,

Spare the personal attacks, it reveals insecurity and weakness in debate.

This is Qatar, my friend, with all the foreign diversity you welcome here, either you like it or not.

It's not! Apparently you know nothing about cultural pluralism.

Not all cultures and human behavior must be like yours.

Middle eastern , Mediterranean in particular functions are load and

family oriented.

This is Qatar, Genesis, either you like it or not.

It’s Qatar society in its raw form and shape and please remember, that Qatar is NOT equal to Qataris!

As you well know, the great majority of Qatar's inhabitants are NOT Qataris!

Yes its pretty insensitive to behave like tihs during concerts, shows ,quran recitals etc, but its not exclusive to Qatar, this happens all over the world, you will always get idiots who dont respect public functions.

Practice what you preach my friend ;)

It's a public forum And not all would agree on your negative ignorant

Statement...

Genesis,

You can’t direct people in a public forum and attempt to control what they can or can not write here.

Where on earth did you read in my comment above, any reference to Qataris???

Gosh, sometimes your oversensitivity don’t allow you to see things clearly and even suggests a certain complex of inferiority.

No need man, just chill you are what you are and you do not represent any group here!

Has genesis said this is not Qatar, at least not "qatari" since they were not there, or very few of them. More occidental people I would say indeed.

This was a QF event, education does not mean only learning maths, medecine or IT. They asked before not to applause during the event and people respected that, why not add please turn you cell phones into silent mode and avoid eating... We have in France such warnings before each and every show.

enough with your negativity already.

There were hardly any locals in this event.

It's not in our culture plus it's considered heresy in the wahabi sect.

Too bad i haven't heard about it earlier, i would have attended myself.Sufis stanzas are very spiritual & calming

common courtesy, etiquette anywhere, manners and mutual respect is non-existent in this part of the world.

the less educated are the primary reason for this however having lived here long enough i think the sun has fried peoples brains.
