Be Careful while buying Sealed Fruits

Dear All,

Recently I have brought a Box of Burries from Quality Hypermarket. After reaching home when i opened the sealed plastic cover i have seen that the burries are rotten and full of funges inside. i informed the hypermarket about this and they told me to return the iten and they refunded the cash. When i talk to the hypermarket Manager named Mr. Suresh, regarding the fines for selling damaged and rotten fruits if i complained to the Muncipality, he told me that muncipality will not impose any fines or ban on them what ever is the mater. They have a big recomendation with the top officers.

So dear friends i would like to ask you that the rules proposed can be modified / vary as per the people and their recommendation or it is common to every one?.

... and the mentality of the shopkeepers resembles the Monty Python vision:'a customer holds up a dead parrot in a cage while the shopkeeper insists that the parrot is ‘resting’. When the parrot drops off its perch and hits the floor of the cage, the customer is convinced that the parrot has died while the shopkeeper still insists that the bird is only ‘stunned’ by the fall.'

Guys, Qatar is a poor country. They cannot grow the food the population needs, they have to import more than 95 %. It's the west that sends the rotten food to the Gulf!

qatartalks, so I can take all my spoilt produce to Baladiya and they will take care of things? If this is so, where do I find this Baladiya? Because in the time span of one month i would be able to collect quite a few things.

I think the manager tried to put you off from complaining to the Authorities by implying they have wasta. You should file the complain anyway.

I found the whole icecream products in Carrefour defrosted end of last year. When I was told the supervisor was busy I started dialing the number of the Authorities. Not only did the section manager turn up, but also the shop manager. The freezers had stopped working and the temperature alarm did not go off. I made them remove ALL the icecream and went back the next day to watch the security video of the removal of all icecreams into the warehouse and made them show me physically where they disposed of them.

Foodpoisoning with dairy products can have serious consequences and as we all know - specially children love their icecreams!

If Carrefour does not have wasta, I cannot see how other shops do.

Everytime I see those 2 managers now I feel like their eyes are throwing fireballs at me - as if I care!

Here Dear friends, you should not waste your time in telling their manager about what you can do, You should have directly told them to Baldiya. And then see what penalties they would face.

Once, I bought a set of factory sealed bottle water from a trustworthy Shop, after consuming Three out of the six bottles, reddish suspension were noticed inside other remaining three sealed bottles. I informed the manufactures whom said I should prove my claim, I gave them just remaining two bottles out of the three, they replaced all the six bottles for me, promised to conduct a laboratory test on the water , Promised to informed me about the results as soon as possible. I never heard from them, after much calls, someone advised me to let go, each time I look at the remaining one bottle which I kept as a souvenir, i felt humiliated and powerless.

It actually happens in ALL supermarkets here. I have bought fruit/berries from pretty much all big supermarket chains here, and more often that not there was rotting fruit in the packets. Usually the top layer of fruit conceals it.

I too had a problem from Quality Hypermarket.

We can understand fruits and vegetables; to my surprise the paked bottle of oil , the lid which is covered with aluminium was tore apart from within...

How the hell is this happening ?

Better avoid going to such places.......

Hope they will improve.

This normally happens when fruits are packed, so we usually avoid buying boxed or packed fruits & vegetables but there are good ones from reputable supermarkets in Doha.  Nevertheless, is that what he told you?  Is he implying that they're immune from penalty because of their strong ties.  Well, I don't think so, because the municipal authority is very rigid and vigilant in maintaining food standards here to avoid diseases which may spread.
