Aljazeera WorldCup 2010

I sincerely believe that we are loosing our customer right on Aljazeera's World Cup transmission.
There are lots of interruptions and disturbances. We can't view the matches and missing some important plays like goals.
It's extremely disappointing to have such disturbances and interruptions. I believe everybody agree on poor performance of Aljazeera on such important events like World Cup. It's not only disappointing but also frustrating. Really a misery. Moreover, the customer service by phone call is also very poor as there is only ONE phone line and that one is always busy.
Now, there will be some refund for the customers in UAE. Please see below links:

I believe we should have refund too.

Yeah guys and gals,

I agree with you all.

We have NO CHOICE. Al Jazeera monopolize it and just don't care its customers. We are loosing our customer's right.

It'll be a biggest joke in the world that they still wanna host World Cup 2022 even don't know how to broadcast a match smoothly.

hms.... traffic congestion, I Know ...missed the William sisters tennis final completely last year due to traffic...:) But that is just one part: parking your car, time required to get entry into the stadium are just other 'minor issues' which take a 'little' more time than required though....:)

Alumnar... may be thats why they want to win the 2022 bid...no issues on transmission...just go and watch live (if you can enter the stadium in time though)...:)

Football fans keen to lap up some Samba magic were left seething with rage as several interruptions ruined Al Jazeera Sport’s live coverage of the World Cup Group G match between Brazil and North Korea last night.

Considering the fact that it was five-times champions Brazil’s first match of the tournament in South Africa, fans in Qatar had settled down on their sofas for what they thought would be an entertaining 90 minutes of action, only to be frustrated by signal problems at regular intervals, especially in the first half

“It was unbearable. Come to think of it Brazil were playing their first match of the World Cup against the North Koreans who are bit of a mystery, and what do we get? It was absolutely frustrating,” said Antonio Fernandez, a diehard Brazil fan.

Fernandez added that he regretted subscribing to Al Jazeera because his friends had no problems watching the match on ESPN, which holds rights in India, Pakistan and other parts of Asia.

“Now you know why thousands of expatriates in Qatar illegally have huge satellite dishes on their terraces. They get better coverage and service for a fraction of the money they pay in Qatar if they subscribe to providers such as Tata Sky and Sun TV.”

Another fan, who did not want to be named, vented his ire at the channel, saying it was unexpected of a network “which claims to represent the people of the region”.

“Al Jazeera is a network with vast resources and reach, so it’s really unbelievable that it can’t get its World Cup coverage right,” he said.

Al Jazeera, which holds the rights for the Middle East and parts of Africa, had said on the first day of the World Cup that saboteurs were trying to jam its signals. The network has received support from world football body FIFA and has launched an investigation, although a source close to it said yesterday that there were “no apparent external forces” involved in the disruptions in its service. He added that the network itself had “not confirmed” whether the interruptions were a result of a deliberate act.

Meanwhile, several websites in the UAE reported that football fans who had purchased faulty Al Jazeera viewing cards would be refunded by the channel’s agents.

Dr Hashim al-Nuaimi, director of consumer protection at UAE’s ministry of economy, told Arabic daily Al Ittihad that Al Jazeera officials had agreed to pay refunds for faulty cards.

Shihab al-Hashemi, a spokesman for the agents in the UAE, said that if any distributor refused to refund customers, Al Jazeera would take away his licence.

However, a top Al Jazeera official offered no comments when asked by Gulf Times if there was a similar move to refund customers in Qatar.

“I am not aware of any such move in the UAE and I certainly cannot comment on whether we will be giving a refund to subscribers in Qatar,” he said.

Can't cancel subscription... they are clever, they sold us the Al Jazeera cards over the counter for the WC. There is no way they will refund anything, you wanna bet? They will just continue as it is, providing a crap service and not answering phones!

Qatar bidding for 2022... yeah sure, what a joke!!! They can't even broadcast a match without interruptions in 2010!!!

Plus all the major Hotels are showing it for free? Why do we need to pay al Jazeera to watch? Cancel your subscriptions now as protest! Even if the hotels are showing the matches through the same Al Jazeera network..end of it is its FREE! But Jazeera will be losing a lot of business.

The HAVE to refund the money they are STEALING!

Guys, was real mad y'day! however, found one channel on hotbird, also al jazeera, but quality similar to poor internet streaming, but no interruptions. all in squares)

check out Jsc World Cup (exact same writing)...

If JSC is refunding customers in UAE, why would they not refund Qatar? and also, what is up with this drop in prices for the WC card - from QR 480 to QR 292? those who paid 480 are furious as this is pure robbery! this should not be happening in modern society of 21st century! TV is becoming more and more expensive, whereas before it was just for free!

Yesterday was just disaster!!! Most of the 3 matches were frozen and we never knew what we could see - or not. It is ridiculous to have to pay for such service in the first place, as for the quality of it... it SUCKS!!!

We want our money back!!!

I missed the opening concert,I missed the first match,I spent countless hours running to and fro to the vendor jostling with this huge crowd of other infuriated customers and then was made to pay EXTRA only to have a choppy viewing of the Brazil match.

It is amazing how they are trying to blame some "consiparacy" against aljazeera for their incompetence! We should be fully refunded, no questions asked, and the signal should be free and open to everybody. Shame on aljazeera and shame on FIFA.

Aljazeera: stop talking about consiparacy theories, do your job (which clearly you are incapable of doing), have some dignity and refund your customers!

Of course we should be refunded the money they are charging for their crappy service! They should NOT have been charging anything in the first place. The whole world broadcast this event for free!
